"ABSTRAKJika dibandingkan dengan pahlawan pria, jumlah pahlawan wanita yang menjadi pemeran utama di film pahlawan super cenderung sedikit. Kebanyakan film pahlawan super biasanya menempatkan pahlawan pria sebagai penyelamat utama dan pahlawan wanita hanya dilihat sebagai entah ldquo;aksesoris rdquo; atau ldquo;damsel in distress - tokoh wanita yang perlu diselamatkan oleh tokoh pria rdquo;. Salah satu film yang mengikuti pola ini adalah Batman: The Killing Joke 2016 , yang dibuat berdasarkan novel grafis berjudul sama 1988 . Namun saat diperhatikan lebih lanjut, karakter Batgirl sebenarnya menawarkan sebuah wawasan yang menarik akan peran dari pahlawan wanita. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk membahas penggambaran karakter Batgirl baik di film animasi dan novel grafis. ABSTRACTCompared to the male hero, the list of female heroine that starred as the main character in superhero movies is considered quite short. Most superhero movies would usually feature male hero as the ultimate savior and female heroine is only feautured as either an ldquo accessory rdquo or the ldquo damsel in distress. rdquo One of the movies that follows this pattern is Batman The Killing Joke 2016 , which is based on the graphic novel by the same name 1988 . However, when studied carefully, the character Batgirl actually offers an interesting insight to the role of female heroine. This paper sets out to examine Batgirl rsquo s portrayal in both the animated movie and the graphic novel. The findings suggest that there is an ambivalence in the way she is portrayed and how she tries to liberate herself by resisting the damsel in distress stereotype."
