Abstrak :
Penelitian ini membahas penerapan museum situs dalam konteks new museology pada Kawasan Situs Prasejarah Maros, Sulawesi Selatan.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Analisis difokuskan pada pendirian museum dengan konsep new museology yang didukung dengan teori komunikasi di museum, edukasi di museum, dan eksibisi di museum. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengusulkan pentingnya pendirian Museum Situs dalam konteks new museology pada Kawasan Situs Prasejarah Maros. Museum Situs Prasejarah Maros terdiri dari satu museum utama dengan sembilan museum pendukung. Komunikasi pada museum dilakukan melalui ekshibisi yang dibagi berdasarkan tema (theme oriented). Edukasi yang akan diberikan dalam museum dilakukan dengan pendekatan konstruktivis. Dengan demikian, pendirian Museum Situs Prasejarah Maros dengan menggunakan konsep New Museology diharapkan dapat berjalan sesuai dengan fungsinya dan tetap mengikuti perkembangan zaman. ......This study discusses the application of site museum in the context of new museology in a Prehistoric Site Area in Maros, South Sulawesi. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The analysis focused on museum establishment with new museology concept that is supported by communication theory, education theory, and exhibition theory in the museum. Results from the study suggested the importance of Site Museum establishment in the context of New Museology in the Prehistoric Site Area in Maros, South Sulawesi. Maros Prehistoric Site Museum consists of one main museum with nine supporting museums. Communication in the main museum is conducted through an exhibition that is divided into themes (theme-oriented). Education in the museum is provided with constructivist approach. Thus, the establishment of Maros Prehistoric Site Museum by using New Museology concept expected to run well according to the function and stay abreast of the times.

Tesis ini membahas penerapan konsep dari teori Museologi Baru di Museum Ullen Sentalu. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analisa kualitatif berdasarkan teori yang diterapkan dalam praktek. Hasil penelitian akan berwujud evaluasi akademis atas pengalaman empiris yang sudah dilakukan oleh menajemen museum Ullen Sentalu. Manfaat dari penelitian dapat digunakan untuk landasan teori yang sudah teruji untuk museum lain mengambil langkah dalam Museologi Baru. ......The Focus of this study is about the implementation of new Museology concept and theory at Museum Ullen Sentalu. This research is analytical qualitative based upon existing theory which have been implemented into practice. The result of this study will provide an academic-standard evaluation for an empiric experience of museum Ullen Sentalu's management. The benefit of this study will be untilized as a realible theory to revitalize other museums to take a path in New Museology.

Tesis ini membahas peran Museum Sandi kepada masyarakat melalui fungsi dan peran museum berupa menumbuhkan pemahaman fungsi dan peran persandian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bersifat deskriptif analitik. Hasil penelitian ini mengindentifikasikan bahwa Museum Sandi telah berusaha menyediakan peran itu melalui fungsinya. Namun bagi Museum Sandi tetap perlu melakukan pengembangan dan peningkatan mutu dalam segala aspek. Di era New Museum dan New Museology memberi kesempatan kepada tiap museum, termasuk Museum Sandi untuk secara maksimal mengaktualisasikan semua potensi museum dalam fungsi dan perannya untuk melayani perkembangan masyarakat.

This thesis is discussing the role of Cryptography Museum in the society through its function and role of cryptography that is growing the understanding on cryptography function. The characteristic of this research is analytic descriptive and uses methods of observation, literature study, and interview. The research result identifies that Cryptography Museum has been trying to fulfill the role through its function. However, the Cryptography Museum is still needing the quality development and enhancement on every aspect. The New Museum and New Museology era gives opportunity to every museum, Cryptogram Museum included, to optimally actualize every museumÂ?s potential in its function and role to serve societyÂ?s development.
