Sistem distribusi, seperti penjadwalan umumnya disusun per hari dan hanya berdasarkan pengalaman tanpa adanya metode perhitungan yang memadai.Karena itu perfolma pendistribusian mereka, yang diukur dengan parameter tingkat pengantaran aklual berbanding dengan nilai order tetap konsumen, masih rendah. Untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan ini digunakan metode savings dengan bantuan Software EMERALD.Terdapat 3 skenario penyelesaian masalah guna mengoptimalan distribusi yang terdapat pada software EMERALD. Area penyelesaian yang ada mencakup titik reorder konsumen, nilai operating stock konsumen, dan ukuran tangki konsumen. Ketiga skenario tersebut akan menghasilkan penghematan jarak dan biaya distribusi yang dikeluarkan. Menggunakan nilai penghematan tersebul akan dipilih altematif distribusi yang memberikan nilai terbesar.
