"Dalam menciptakan masyarakat yang multikultural, dibutuhkan pemahaman konsep multikulturalisme. Pemahaman multikulturalisme dapat diberikan sejak dini. Hal ini perlu agar anak-anak dapat lebih menghargai, menghormati, mengakui, dan memahami setiap perbedaan agama, bahasa, suku, etnis, dan bentuk yang ada di kehidupan mereka serta siap untuk menghadapi lingkungan yang beragam. Pemberian pemahaman multikulturalisme kepada anak-anak dapat melalui buku bacaan bergambar bertema multikultural. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan penggambaran multikulturalisme melalui alur dan penokohan pada buku Aku Anak yang Berani, Bisa Melindungi Diri Sendiri (AABBMDS) 3 (2018) Karya Watiek Ideo dan Nindia Maya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini menggunakan buku bacaan bergambar AABBMDS 3. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca dan catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku AABBMDS 3 mengandung empat kriteria sebagai buku bacaan bergambar bertema multikultural yang dapat ditemukan melalui alur dan penokohan dalam cerita. Buku ini juga mengandung tiga konsep dasar multikulturalisme, yaitu (1) mempelajari dan menghargai budaya seseorang; (2) menghormati dan berkeinginan untuk memahami kebudayaan orang lain; dan (3) menghargai, mengakui keberadaan, dan merasa senang dengan perbedaan kebudayaan orang lain. Namun, demikian, secara umum isi buku AABBMDS 3 lebih kepada pengenalan konsep multikulturalisme kepada anak-anak.

In creating a multicultural society, an understanding of the concept of multiculturalism is needed. Understanding of multiculturalism can be given early. This is necessary so that children can appreciate, respect, acknowledge, and understand every difference in religion, language, ethnicity, and physical form in their lives and are ready to face a diverse environment. Giving an understanding of multiculturalism to children can be through multicultural themed picture books. This study aims to explain the description of multiculturalism through the plot and characterization of the book Aku Anak yang Berani, Bisa Melindungi Diri Sendiri (AABBMDS) 3 (2018) By Watiek Ideo and Nindia Maya. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The data source of this study uses AABBMDS 3 reading books. The technique of collecting data uses the of reading and writing. The results showed that the AABBMDS 3 book contained four criteria as a multicultural picture reading book that could be found through the plot and characterization of the story. This book also contains three basic concepts of multiculturalism, namely (1) learning and respecting one's culture; (2) respect anns desire to understand the culture of others; and (3) respect, acknowledge existence, and feel happy with other people's cultural differences. However, in general the contents of the AABBMDS 3 book are more about the introduction of the concept of muticulturalism to children."
