"ABSTRAKJurnal ini membahas tentang peran gijichon dalam melayani kebutuhan tentara Amerika. Tujuan jurnal ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran tentang keberlangsungan aktivitas prostitusi yang berada di gijichon periode 1945 ndash; 1980-an serta peran gijichon terhadap Korea Selatan. Dalam makalah ini, metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan historis dan teknik penelitian kepustakaan. Penelitian ini memiliki hasil bahwa bentuk keterlibatan gijichon di Korea Selatan dalam melayani Amerika Serikat adalah dengan menyediakan kawasan atau area sebagai tempat berlangsungnya aktivitas seksual antara PSK maupun tentara Amerika serta turunnya campur tangan pemerintah Korea dan pihak militer Amerika Serikat dalam meregulasi aktivitas prostitusi di gijichon. Selain itu, peran yang disumbangkan oleh gijichon terhadap Korea Selatan adalah pencegahan penularan penyakit antara PSK Korea maupun tentara Amerika, keamanan nasional, penyumbang ekonomi nasional dan melindungi wanita Korea nonPSK dari aksi pemerkosaan tentara Amerika .Kata Kunci: Gijichon;Korea Selatan; Prostitusi; Pekerja Seks Komersial; Tentara Amerika Serikat.

ABSTRACTABSTRACTThis journal will talk about the role of gijichon in serving against US military needs. This journal rsquo s intention is to describe the prostitution activity that happened in gijichon 1945 ndash 1980s and the gijichon rsquo s role towards South Korea. The method that would be use in this journal is the method of qualitative with history approach and the study of literature research. This journal has a result that the involvement of gijichon in serving US military with the availability of distrcit or area that serving sexual activity to US military along with the involvement of Korean government and US military authority in regulating the gijichon prostitution. Moreover, gijichon rsquo s roles that has given into South Korea are prevent veneral disease rsquo s spread between Korean prostitutes and US military, national defense, contribute to national economy and secure the non prostitute Korean women from the US military rape.Keywords Gijichon Camptown South Korea Prostitution Prostitute US Military.
