"Dukungan keluarga merupakan support system yang penting yang diberikan oleh keluarga, untuk mencegah dari gangguan mental dalam mengatasi beban keluarga. Tujuan penelitian mengidentifikasi "hubungan dukungan keluarga dan beban keluarga dalam merawat anggota dengan riwayat perilaku kekerasan". Desain penelitian kuantitatif berupa descriptive correlational dengan rancangan cross sectional dengan sampel yang berjumlah 50 orang. Instrumen dukungan keluarga dan beban keluarga dengan menggunakan kuesioner.Hasil penelitian didapatkan ada hubungan antara dukungan keluarga (dukungan informasi, emosional, instrumental dan penilaian) dan beban keluarga dalam merawat anggota dengan riwayat perilaku kekerasan di Rumah Sakit Jiwa Islam Klender Jakarta Timur. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingtnya program pendidikan kesehatan jiwa pada keluarga yang merawat pasien dengan riwayat perilaku kekerasan dalam rangka meningkatkan kemampuan dan kerampilan dalam merawat anggota keluarga, serta pentingnya terapi psikoedukasi keluarga.

Family support is important for patients in psychiatric ward. It is needed to prevent patients from having mental disorder, specially in dealing with family matters. The aim of this research is to identify "the relationship between family support in reducing family`s burden in taking care of patients with history of violence". It is a quantitative study with descriptive correlational research and use cross sectional. There are 50 patients? family members of psychiatric ward in Islamic Hospital in Klender East Jakarta interviewed as the samples. Instrument used is questionnaire.

The result shows a relation between family support (information, emotional, instrumental and appraisal) with family?s way in taking care of patients. This research recommends the needs of healthcare education program and psychoeducation therapy for family of psychiatric patients as a way in improving their ability and skill in taking care of the patients."
