"Violence against women is caused by many factors. one of them is wrong understanding of religious teaching as the result of literal interpretation of holy texts, whereas religious techings absolutely emphasize egalitarianism between men and women. Therefore, the violence is the result of interpretation merely, not the core and essence of religious teachings. To overcome, we have to interpret critically the holy texts, its supporting texts and whatever things resulted by the texts such as laws, norms, etc. In this case, we could use hermeneutics method that emphasizes aspects of text, cntect (history of text) and spirit of text when applied to the current context. This spirit means spirit of liberation. By using hermeneutiv methods in reinterpreting the holy texts we could hope that discriminations through disallowance of women ti be leaders, the value of women is a half of men and sexual violence against women in household that have always been refereed to holy texts can be avoided. Hermeneutic of liberation is a form of critical approach toward the problem of literal interpretation. It relates the interpretation of holy texts to be closer with the problems of humanity such as poverty, stupidity, oppression, discrimination and injustice."
