"This study estimates the forward-looking monetary policy reaction function for Sri Lanka using monthly data from 1980 to 2017. The results indicate that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) followed the Taylor rule to set interest rates. Our forwardlooking model estimations show that the coefficient on inflation increases over time, reflecting the greater focus on price stability by the bank. The results suggest that the CBSL reacted to nominal exchange rate depreciation by tightening monetary policy. Although the degree of interest rate smoothness gradually decreases over time, the study shows that the CBSL did not react to movements in fiscal deficit during the period under investigation. This finding suggests that the inclusion of fiscal deficit in the Taylor rule does not provide a better specification of the policy reaction function in Sri Lanka."

""As religious polarisation in society deepens, political actors and policy-makers have begun to struggle with questions on the role of the dominant religion and how religion influences constitutional commitments and development. By focusing on Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, Constitutions, Religion and Politics in Asia demonstrates how constitution-making and the operation of constitutional arrangements involving religion cannot be separated from the broader political dynamics of society. Although constitutions establish legal and political structures of government institutions and provide tools for rights protection, they do not operate in a vacuum divorced from the games of power and the political realities surrounding them. Here, Shah sets out how constitutions operate and evolve and demonstrates how constitutional provisions can produce unintended consequences over time. A vital new source of scholarship for students and scholars of law and religion and comparative constitutional law, and those interested in issues of constitutionalism and legal and political history in Asia"--"

"ABSTRACT
In the last thirty years, tens of thousands of Sri Lankans have experienced enforced disappearances of family members. In 2016, many members of such families came before the Consultation Task Force on Reconciliation Mechanisms, which was mandated to gather views on how people thought the transitional justice mechanisms should be designed, how they should be established and how they should function. This process allowed the families to share their experiences and to outline what they saw as important in shaping the transitional justice mechanisms. This article surveys the complex nature of their distress and psychosocial needs, as expressed by them during the consultations. It proposes that transitional justice mechanisms should be designed to protect their psychosocial well-being, address their complex psychosocial needs, and provide them with support and protection before, during and after their engagement in the mechanisms."

This article explains why a country chooses to build cooperation or close itself with other countries at the bilateral level. Various factors are behind this choice even though the relationship between the two is deteriorating. The analysis in this thesis uses the Prisoners' Dilemma theory to explain the differences in India's attitudes towards Sri Lanka and Pakistan in building security cooperation to stem the threat of terrorism. The results of this research using qualitative methods show that the advantages and positive conceptions of Sri Lanka foster sufficient trust for India to build cooperation. Despite a poor security history, India still considers the benefits of greater cooperation. However, India chose to defect to Pakistan because of historical factors and future benefits that India would not obtain. Therefore, counter-terror cooperation has been successfully established stably between India and Sri Lanka but not between India and Pakistan.
