"Authority confusion in a development area in the region, especially on tourism destinations, has increased the government's attention. The weaknesses of communication, coordination, and cooperation (3K) across sectors are sus¬pected to be the source of the inhibiting problem. The actors who have various authorities run less synergistically and sometimes tend to prioritize their sector ego. The Ministry of Tourism currently prioritizes the concept of single desti¬nation - single management that is believed to answer the problem of development of tourism destinations in Indonesia. Ten tourism destinations have been established into national priority destinations as well as being the focus and locus of implementing this concept. To that end, the government through the Ministry of Tourism encourages the birth of institutions that have an integrity of authority, namely in the form of Tourism Authority Agency (BOP). But there are still other patterns that can be held, such as Destination Management Organization (DM0) in the context of Destination Governance (DG). The discussion of the concept of BOP as an instrument of tourism destination development in the region became the focus of writing this article. A discussion on BOP concept management pattern with DM0 also needs to be done to be the source of consideration for policy improvement and planning for central and regional in the future."

"Destination branding dianggap sebagai aspek utama dalam penerapan konsep pemasaran dalam suatu destinasi, terutama saat peluang dalam industri pariwisata meningkat dan bertambahnya berbagai pilihan destinasi wisata. Sebelumnya, telah dibahas mengenai theoretical framework mengenai destination branding menggunakan variabel source credibility, destination image, destination attachment, dan destination satisfaction. Penelitian kuantitatif ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh dari destination source credibility terhadap destination satisfaction dengan mediasi destination image dan destination attachment. Penelitian ini melibatkan 302 orang responden yang sebelumnya pernah mengunjungi destinasi wisata Malang Raya dan melakukan pencarian informasi menggunakan situs dan/atau aplikasi User Generated Content UGC . Data diolah menggunakan metode Structural Equation Modeling SEM . Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa variabel destination image memediasi pengaruh destination source credibility terhadap destination attachment. Destination attachment memiliki peran mediasi pada pengaruh destination image terhadap destination satisfaction. Namun, destination attachment tidak memiliki peran mediasi dalam pengaruh destination source credibility terhadap destination.

Destination branding is considered as the main aspect of destination marketing, align with the increasing opportunity in tourism industry and the development in alternative destination choices. Before, the theoretical framework of destination branding already developed, which include destination source credibility, destination image, destination attachment, and destination satisfaction. This quantitative research aims to see the effect of destination source credibility to destination satisfaction with destination image and destination attachment as mediation variable. The study involved 302 respondents who have visited Malang Raya and have done information research using site and or application of User Generated Content UGC . The data was processed using Structural Equation Modeling SEM . The results of this study showed that destination image does mediate the effect of destination source credibility to destination attachment. Destination attachment does mediate the effect of destination image to destination satisfaction, but does not mediate the effect of destination source credibility to destination satisfaction."

"Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membahas mengenai pengaruh antara Destination Brand Authenticitiy dan Destination Brand Self-Congruence terhadap Destination Brand Engagement pada wisatawan Masjid Istiqlal. Penelitian ini mengunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, melalui teknik purposive-sampling yang dilakukan pada sebanyak 208 responden melalui penyebaran kuesioner secara online. Data yang didapatkan diolah mengunakan SPSS dan SmartPLS melalui analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial mengunakan SEM dengan pendekatan PLS-SEM. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Destination Brand Authenticity dan Destination Brand Self-Congruence memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap Destination Brand Engagement pada wisatawan Masjid Istiqlal.

The purpose of this study is to discuss the effect of Destination Brand Authenticity and Destination Brand Self-Congruence on Destination Brand Engagement on Istiqlal Mosque tourists. This study uses a quantitative approach, done through a purposive-sampling technique which was carried out on as many as 208 respondents through an online questionnaire. The data obtained was processed using SPSS and SmartPLS through descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis using SEM with PLS-SEM approach. The result of this study indicates that Destination Brand Authenticity and Destination Brand Self-Congruence have a positive influence on Destination Brand Engagement on Istiqlal Mosque tourists."

"Skripsi ini membahas mengenai pengaruh dari destination image negara Thailand terhadap persepsi konsumen Indonesia terhadap produk domestik Thailand, yaitu buah durian Thailand. Dengan menggunakan metode analisis statistik structural equation model menginvestigasi pengaruh destination image terhadap persepsi dan preferensi konsumen mengenai destination?s domestic product, dimana terdapat pengaruh destination familiarity pada hubungan antara destination image dan persepsi konsumen.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa destiantion image negara Thailand mempengaruhi persepsi konsumen mengenai destination's domestic product secara signifikan dan positif, dimana destination familiarity tidak dapat memoderasi hubungan antara destination image dan persepsi konsumen. Pada akhirnya hubungan antara destination image dan preferensi konsumen akan dimediasi secara penuh oleh persepsi konsumen mengenai destination?s domestic product. Penelitian ini akan berguna bagi pembuat kebijakan (pemerintah) untuk memanfaatkan destination image dalam membantu meningkatkan ekspor negara.

This undergraduate thesis discusses the influence of destination image of Thailand to the Indonesian consumer perception for domestic products of Thailand, Thailand?s king of fruit. Using methods of statistical analysis of structural equation modeling to investigate the influence of destination image on destination?s domestic product perception and preference, where there is a influence of destination familiarity on the relationship between destination image and destination?s domestic product perception.
The results indicate that the destination image of Thailand significantly and positively influence destination's domestic product perception, where destination familiarity can not moderate the relationship between destination image and product perception. In the end the relationship between destination image and product preference will be fully mediated by destination's domestic product perception. This study will be useful for policy makers (government) to take advantage of the destination image to increase country's exports.

"Destinasi wisata, terutama yang terletak di negara berkembang memiliki tantangan untuk dapat mengembangkan positioningnya secara spesifik agar berbeda dengan destinasi lain. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan melihat kepada item yang sudah sangat melekat di dalam destinasi wisata, terutama berkaitan dengan budaya dan kearifan lokal. Salah satu cara potensial yaitu melalui iconic culinary sebagai bagian dari kebudayaan di destinasi wisata. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai iconic culinary dalam pemanfaatannya sebagai icon destinasi wisata, menginvestigasi dimensi simbolik dan fungsional dari sebuah iconic culinary serta menganalisis bagaimana iconic culinary tersebut menjadi bagian dari proses destination branding sebuah destinasi wisata. Konsep iconic culinary pada penelitian ini sejalan dengan konsep iconic product yang dikonsepsikan oleh Soroka dan Lominadze. Sedangkan untuk proses destination branding mengacu pada tahapan destination branding yang dicetuskan oleh Morgan dan Pritchard.
Penelitian dilakukan melalui metodologi kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam dan diperkuat oleh pengamatan lapangan. Selanjutnya dianalisis melalui analisis thematic. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa iconic culinary dapat bertindak sebagai salah satu icon yang potensial untuk merepresentasikan sebuah destinasi wisata karena secara simbolik dan fungsional bersifat melekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari (everydayness) pada budaya serta tradisi yang ada di masyarakat. Iconic culinary juga menjadi sumber dari identitas destinasi dan berperan dalam proses destination branding.

A tourism destination, especially in developing countries faced a challenge to create a specific positioning that is different from other destinations. An impactful way to establish is by looking into item that really attached with the destination specifically on culture and local wisdom, one of the potential approach is through an iconic culinary as part of the destinations culture. This study investigate on symbolic and functional dimensions of iconic culinary, the role of iconic culinary as an icon of a destination and analyze on tourism destination branding process. Iconic culinary concept for this research refer to iconic product conceptualized by Soroka and Lominadze. And for destination branding process refer to five phases by Morgan and Pritchard.
This study is using qualitative methods and collect the data through in depth interview and field observation, then analyze using thematic methods. This study found that iconic culinary has the ability to characterize the destination, because it has a symbolic and functional dimention that melt with everydayness, tradition, and local wisdom. Moreover, it is also performs as a part of primary role to represent tourism destination identity in destination branding."

"Suatu tujuan wisata, terutama di negara-negara berkembang menghadapi tantangan untuk membuat posisi tertentu yang berbeda dari tujuan lain. Sebuah cara yang potensial untuk membangun adalah dengan melihat ke dalam item yang benar-benar melekat dengan tujuan khusus pada budaya dan kearifan lokal, salah satunya adalah ikon kuliner sebagai bagian dari budaya tujuan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengamati pemahaman tentang alasan kuliner ikon dapat digunakan sebagai ikon tujuan wisata dan untuk menganalisis bagaimana ia dapat mengambil bagian dalam proses branding tujuan melalui metode kualitatif. Dengan menyelidiki pada dimensi simbolis dan fungsional kuliner ikonik dan menganalisis proses branding tujuan wisata, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ikon kuliner memiliki hubungan erat dengan tujuan. Selain itu, juga melakukan sebagai peran utama untuk mewakili pariwisata identitas tujuan dalam destination branding. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengamati pemahaman tentang alasan kuliner ikon dapat digunakan sebagai ikon tujuan wisata ini. Penelitian ini menggambarkan analisis mendalam pada dimensi simbolis dan fungsional kuliner ikonik. Hal ini juga untuk memahami dan menganalisis tentang bagaimana kuliner ikon sebagai ikon tujuan ini mengambil bagian dalam proses branding tujuan wisata ini.

"Prediksi perkembangan kontribusi industri pariwisata terhadap Gross Domestic Product (GDP) memicu persaingan ketat antar negara dalam menarik perhatian wisatawan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pembentukan merek yang berbeda dengan negara lain. Penggunaan strategi merek underdog telah berhasil digunakan dalam konteks politik dan produk. Destinasi yang underdog adalah tempat yang berkompetisi dengan sumber daya yang lebih sedikit, namun dengan semangat masyarakat lokal, mereka mampu untuk mengadapi rintangan yang ada dalam mencapai kesuksesan. Mengingat sifat underdog yang menimbulkan empati, underdog dapat memberikan halo effect yang luas terhadap destinasi pariwisata.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh underdog terhadap intention to visit dalam konteks destination branding. Efek moderasi underdog disposition dan personal inventory individualisme/kolektivisme telah diuji dalam penelitian ini. Menggunakan desain eksperimen, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh langsung secara umum merek underdog terhadap intention to visit. Pengaruh hanya ditemukan dalam kelompok subjek Indonesia. Secara umum, moderator-moderator dalam penelitian ini memengaruhi pengaruh tersebut. Underdog disposition, individualisme vertikal, kolektivisme horisontal, dan kolektivisme vertikal adalah moderator yang dapat mempengaruhi kekuatan pengaruh underdog terhadap intention to visit.

The predicted growing contribution of tourism industry towards Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has led to an intense competition among countries to attract tourist. Thus, a differentiated brand is needed to brand tourist destination. The use of underdog brand strategy has been successful in the context of politics and products. Underdog destination is a place that competes with fewer privileges and resources, but with determination and perseverance of its local people they manage to face the obstacles to be successful.
This study aims to examine the underdog effect towards intention to visit a tourist destination. Moderation effects of underdog disposition and individual/collective personal inventory was included in this research. Using experimental design, this research found that there is no general direct effect of underdog brand towards intention to visit a tourist destination. However, domestic and international tourist segment have different perception towards underdog branding. The underdog effect was only found in domestic tourist group. In general, the moderators did influence the effect. Underdog disposition, vertical individualism, horizontal collectivism, and vertical collectivism were the moderators that could influence the strength of underdog effect towards intention to visit.

"Outlining the need for fresh perspectives on change in tourism, this book offers a theoretical overview and empirical examples of the potential synergies of applying evolutionary economic geography (EEG) concepts in tourism research. EEG has proven to be a powerful explanatory paradigm in other sectors and tourism studies has a track record of embracing, adapting, and enhancing frameworks from cognate fields. EEG approaches to tourism studies complement and further develop studies of established themes such as path dependence and the Tourism Area Life Cycle. "ABSTRACT
Indonesia sebagai negara dengan cultural resources tertinggi di ASEAN memiliki kesempatan untuk memanfaatkan cultural resources yang dimilikinya untuk meningkatkan kunjungan wisatawan. Upaya meningkatkan kunjungan wisatawan salah satunya adalah dengan menyelenggarakan event. Event merupakan penggerak wisatawan untuk meninggalkan tempat tinggalnya, mengeluarkan uang yang dimilikinya untuk memperoleh pelayanan di destinasi wisata. Penelitian ini fokus pada pengaruh cultural events dan elemen lain dalam destinasi wisata terhadap pembentukan destination image yang dapat menghasilkan positive behavioral intention. Penelitian ini menggunakan PLS-SEM untuk menganalisis pengaruh cultural events, event brand, place brand, dan structural element terhadap affective dan cognitive image destinasi wisata. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah orang-orang yang pernah mengunjungi Dieng Culture Festival 6,7, atau 8. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa place brand dan structural element berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pembentukan cognitive dan affective image. Variabel lain, yakni cultural events dan cultural event brand hanya berpengaruh signifikan terhadap affective image. Selanjutnya, kedua dimensi destination image, yaitu affective image dan cognitive image berpengaruh signifikan terhadap overall image destination image. Dalam kasus Dieng dan Dieng Culture Festival, affective image berpengaruh lebih besar terhadap pembentukan overall image. Pada penelitian ini juga ditemukan bahwa overall image berpengaruh signifikan terhadap intention to revisit dan intention to recommend wisatawan terhadap destinasi wisata.

ABSTRACT
Indonesia as the richest cultural resources country in ASEAN has opportunities to maintain its cultural resources to increase tourist visits. Conducting event is one of the way to increase tourist visit. Events can make someone leave their place, move to the other place conducting events, spent their money to get the services on the event site. The focus of this study is the contribution of cultural events and the other elements of tourist destination to the formation of destination image that lead to positive behavioral intention. This research used PLS SEM to analyze the effect of cultural events, event brand, place brand, and structural element to the affective and cognitive image. Respondents of this research is anyone who had been visited Dieng Culture Festival 6, 7, or 8. This research has found that place brand and structural element significantly affect both cognitive and affective image. The other variable, cultural events and cultural event brand only significantly affect the affective image of tourist destination. In the case of Dieng and Dieng Culture Festival, affective image has bigger affect to the formation of overall image than cognitive image. In this study, researcher also found that overall image of tourist destination significantly affects positive behavioral intention intention to revisit dan intention to recommend of the tourist to tourist destination. "
