The Sensitivity Pattern of Microorganisms against Antibiotics at the Intensive Care Unit of Fatmawati Hospital
Jakarta 2001 – 2002. A preliminary study was conducted on the sensitivity pattern of microorganisms against
antibiotics at the intensive care unit of Fatmawati Hospital Jakarta. Retrospective, secondary data were collected on
results of antibiotics sensitivity tests and kind of microorganisms of 205 patients during the years 2001 – 2002.
Pathogenic species found were Pseudomonas sp. Klebsiella sp. Escherichia coli, Streptococcus β haemolyticus,
Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus. The pattern of resistance showed that pathogenic
microorganisms were most resistant agains ampicillin, amoxycillin, penicillin G, tetracycline and chloramphenicol. The
highest sensitivity levels were shown by fosmicin, amikacin, ceftriaxone to Pseudomonas sp. netilmicin, amikacin,
ceftriaxone to Klebsiella sp. ceftriaxone, amikacin, ceftizoxime to Escherichia coli."

Several Factors Influencing Irrational Antibiotics Treatments in Intensive Care Unit at Fatmawati Hospital
Jakarta 2001 – 2002. A study was conducted in the intensive care unit at Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta, concerning a
factor influencing the inappropriate use of antibiotics, proven by the resistance against a certain antibiotic, however this
antibiotic was used for therapy. Cases in the control group were resistant cases against an antibiotic and therefore were
given another antibiotic, against which the patients were sensitive. A total of 34 cases were selected as research
subjects, whereas 41 cases were included in the control group. The factor influencing the use of antibiotics against
which patient were resistant was “having a job of the patient” (odds ratio = 0,25 and 95 % CI 0,09 – 0,71). In
comparison the group of patients with a job with the group without a job: the group with a job had a 75 % lower risk in
using ineffective antibiotics."

"Purpose: We evaluated cultured specimens from silicone tubes removed from patients with congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction and determined the antibiotic sensitives of the specimens.
Methods: This study included 26 eyes of 22 patients who had received endonasal silicone tube intubation for congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction. The removed silicone tubes were divided into canalicus, lacrimal sac, nasolacrimal duct and nasal cavity parts according to insertion state. Then, bacteria and fungus cultures were performed and rheir antibiotic sensitivity was tested.
Results: Bacteria culture rate was 80.8% in the canaliculus and the lacrimal sac, and 88.5% in the lacrimal duct, and the nasal cavity, which was not significantly higher in the nasal cavity than in the nasolacrimal duct and in the nasolacrimal duct than in the lacrimal sac and the canaliculus (p-value < 0.05). The species of cultured Gram-positive bacteria were in the following order: Staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus pneumonia and coagulase negative staphylococcus. Common species of cultured Gram-negative bacteria were Pseudomonas and Serratia marcescenes. All six species of cultured fungi were candida. Among 12 Staphylococcus aureus cultured, eight species showd resistance to methicillin (MRSA). In all patients, the symptomps and the signs of nasolacrimal duct obstruction improved after the tube removal.
Conclusions: Bacterial and fungal infection of the silicone tube in patients with congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction does not appear to affect directly the outcome of silicone tube intubation. Further studies of bacterium and fungi in the nasolacrimal duct before silicone tube intubation are needed for determining the infection causing nasolacarimal duct obstruction J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2014;55(8): 1121-1125"

Gambaran klinis penderita meliputi luka (Iokal) maupun sistemik sesuai klasifikasi PEDIS (Perfusion, Extent, DeptMissue lose, Infection, Sensation), ditambah modifikasinya (bau luka dan krepitasilgas). Pemeriksaan mikrobiologis infeksi kaki diabetik dilakukan biakan kuman aeroblanaerob dan tes kepekaan antibiotik.

Background. This study aimed to recognize clinical pictures and microbiological pattern in 3rd and 4th degrees of the PEDIS classification of diabetic foot infection (OFI). The last prospective study on diabetic ulcer/gangrene in RSCM was conducted in 1984. Materials and Methods. The design was a prospective cross sectional study conducted in RSCM from March till December 2004. There were 52 OFl's patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The clinical pictures were included local wounds and systemic manifestations according to the PEDIS classification with additional modification (the wound's odour and crepitation/gas). Microbiological examination were done culture for aerobic/anaerobic microorganisms and the antibiotics sensitivity test."
