ABSTRACT
The article is focused on early colonial interaction with the Aru Islands, geographically located in southern Maluku, at the easternmost end of the Indian Ocean world. The study examines how relationships were constructed in the course of the seventeenth century, how they were institutionalized and how this engendered forms of hybridity. Moreover, it discusses forms of resistance and avoidance in relation to the Dutch East India Company (VOC). Aru constitutes an interesting case as it is was one of the easternmost places in the world in which Islam and Christianity gained a (limited) foothold in the early-modern period, and it also marked the outer limit of Dutch authority. Aru differed from most geographical areas approached by the VOC because of its lack of any large-scale political structures and its relatively non-hierarchical society. The article discusses the forging of Dutch-Arunese political ties after the Banda massacre in 1621, as well as the role of Asian competitors of the VOC such as the Makassarese and Ceramese, the increasing adaptation to world religions in an Arunese setting, conditions in the European-indigenous contact zones and, finally, the conflicts arising from the imbalances between western and eastern Aru, in which the VOC repeatedly intervened to suppress the villages of the Backshore (east coast)."

"This paper examines gender agreement in three little-known languages of the Aru Islands and places them within the larger pattern of “neuter gender” in eastern Indonesia. For each language, I look first at the variety of agreement targets that are controlled by gendered nouns. Secondly, I look at the semantics of nouns that control agreement. I show that whilst having a strongly semantic base involving animacy, gender in Aru languages is a grammatical category in which many nouns denoting certain types of entities that lack discernable biological animacy are assigned to the same gender as that of animate referents. I conclude by considering the system of gender in proto-Aru."

ABSTRACT
The present study focuses on a set of events in the Aru Islands, Maluku, in the late eighteenth century which are documented in some detail by Dutch records. A violent rebellion with Muslim and anti-European overtones baffled the Dutch colonialists (VOC) and led to a series of humiliations for the Company on Aru, before eventually being subdued. As one of the main catalysts of the conflict stands the chief Tamalola from the Muslim island Ujir. Interestingly, this persons also a central figure in local traditions from Ujir. Moreover, his story connects with wider cultural and economic networks in eastern Indonesia. Thus the article asks how the imprints of the Tamalola figure in textual and non-textual sources can add to our knowledge of how communities of Eastern Indonesia ordered their lives outside colonial control."

ABSTRACT
In places with limited access to manufactured goods, people must develop creative strategies to make the most of available materials, both those produced by humans and those taken from the natural world. Although Pulau Ujir, in the Aru Islands, has a long history of engagement with global trade networks, until recently the communitys access to manufactured goods was limited and infrequent. As a result, in the past objects there tended to take on new lives, and still do today: they are modified, re-purposed, and recycled in ingenious ways. This article explores the relationship between people and things in Ujir from the perspectives of object biography and Actor Network Theory. I argue that the complex life stories of material things in such conditions of scarcity deserve special attention, because they may explain not only puzzling archaeological phenomena, but also aspects of the social lives of the people who used andreused them. Two modified and repurposed fragments, one of porcelain and one of glass, serve as examples."

ABSTRACT
While the long history of commerce in Southeast Asia is well studied, less examination has been made of the histories of capitalism, particularly in terms of the encounters that took place around commodities. This article provides a translation and analysis of a description of Dobo on Aru in 1911. At the time it was a Klondike, on what Julia Martínez and I have termed the pearl frontier. The Aru islands were the site for an Australian-led pearl shell consortium that ran from the beginning of the twentieth century until the 1940s, which brought in a large number of Japanese divers and other Asian and Pacific workers. Examining relations around the pearling industry provides a number of general methodological points of entry into the ways that commodity relations created encounters with modernity."

The recognizing of Indonesian government sovereignty by the Dutch government on December 27th, 1949, was not included the West of Irian territory. In the effort of bringging West Irian back to NKRI government has taking diplomatic confrontation tactics there was economy, politics, and military, till 1961. But in the other side, the Dutch Government carries on self-determination in the international forums by establishing Papua Council and Papua National Committee.
In the Cold War era, as a result of establish NATO and Warsawa Pact, the Indonesian Presiden, Mr. Soekarno, made a guide line of strategy for returning West Irian by combining power - politics - diplomacy and power ? military. There for, the Government Republic of Indonesian established National Defense Council to formulate the way that integrating all of the national potentials. The Indonesian Government established also The Highest Commando for West Irian Liberation, who formulates TRIKORA Strategy.
The launch of TRIKORA, on December 19th, 1961, was a new type of struggle for returning West Irian with involved all of nation component that focusing on using of military forces. For conduct that strategy, The Highest Commando f'or West Irian Liberation, formed Mandala Commando, which was combining Indonesian Army Force, Indonesian Navy, and Indonesian Air Force.
On Januari 15th, 1962, in the Clandestine Intelligence Operation that conducted by Mandala Commando, there was a Sea Battle in Aru. Based on the research, the conclusion is that the Sea Battle in Aru was spirit that stimulated Jayawijaya Operation. This operations made Indonesian diplomacy for returning West Irian has a higher bargaining position, so it drived American Government to push the Dutch to continuing negotiation to Indonesian Government. The signing of New York Agreement, on August 15`E', 1962, was the ape of Indonesian struggle to put West Irian in NKRI territory.

dasar (bottom trawl). Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui survei pukat
dasar menggunakan KR. Bawal Putih dengan lokasi pengambilan contoh
ditetapkan sebanyak 36 stasiun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui
indeks keanekaragaman (H?), indeks dominansi spesies (C), indeks
banyak tertangkap yaitu Leiognathus bindus (26,3%) Apogon sp.(16,5%)
ton/km2, Apogon sp. 0,5 ton/km2, dan Upeneus sulphureus 0,2 ton/km2;
Arius thalassinus 2,4 ton/km2, Lutjanus malabaricus 0,3 ton/km2, dan
Epinephelus sexfaciatus 0,2 ton/km2). Total biomassa ikan demersal di
Perairan Aru diduga adalah sebesar 193.975±257 ton (Leiognathus
bindus, 29.076 ton, Apogon sp. 20.769 ton, dan Upeneus sulphureus
10.138 ton; Arius thalassinus 0,2 ton, Lutjanus malabaricus 0,1 ton, dan
Epinephelus sexfaciatus 0,1 ton)."

ABSTRACT
This study used case control design to look at the risk of children not immunized
with BCG for pulmonary tuberculosis. Case and control are children under 5
years old in Sukabumi City obtained from regular reports of TB program,
immunization, KIA and Nutrition at health office in Sukabumi city. The result
of bivariate analysis showed that children who were not immunized with BCG
had a risk at 3.270 times higher to have pulmonary TB than children were
immunized with BCG. While the results of multivariate analysis that included
neonatal visit variables as interaction variables and born weight variables as
confounding showed that children were not immunized with BCG and neonatal
visits < 3 times had a Risk level at 5.63 times higher for pulmonary tuberculosis
than immunized children BCG and neonatal visits = 3 times (reference group).
The risk of children not immunized by BCG and neonatal visits = 3 times was
1.13 times higher for pulmonary tuberculosis than the referent group and
children immunized with BCG but neonatal visits <3 had a risk level 4.99 times
greater than the group Referens. From these results it is known that the efficacy
of BCG vaccine without interaction is 67 % while the efficacy of BCG vaccine
with interaction is 82 %. This means, the efficacy of vaccine BCG in Sukabumi
City has increased with the interaction between neonatal visit variable and BCG
immunization"
