Abstrak :
This paper presents the application of external prestressing as an alternative of repatring and strengthening method for building structural elements. Prestressing outside the concrete will ease the repair work without much disturbing the existing concrete elements, and also simplify the qualily control of the repair work. For the case study, we present some interesting aspects in repairing and strengthening the MMP dan JIA buildings in Jakarta,which are repaired by using the external prestressing method.

Abstrak :
Indonesia merupakan negara dengan tingkat bencana gema bumi yang tinggi. Banyak kerugian yang terjadi akibat gempa bumi, seperti kerugian materi dan korban jiwa. Terdapat beberapa metode untuk mengurangi dampak kerusakan yang ditimbulkan oleh gempa bumi. Pada penelitian ini dikaji tentang respon struktur dengan menggunakan base isolation. Untuk mengetahui respon struktur suatu bangunan digunakan persamaan diferensial dari persamaan gerak. Program yang digunakan adalah dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Julia. Perbandingan hasil dari bangunan yang diberi base isolation menunjukan bahwa frekuensi dan kecepatan yang dialami struktur berkurang dibandingkan yang tidak dipasang base isolation. Perubahan tersebut dapat mengurangi dampak yang ditimbulkan akibat gempa bumi yang terjadi. ......Indonesia is a country with a high level of earthquake disaster. Many losses occur due to earthquakes, such as material losses and fatalities. There are several methods to reduce the impact of damage caused by earthquakes. In this study, the structure response is based on base isolation. To find out the structural response of a building, a differential equation of motion equation is used. The program used is by using Julias programming language. Comparison of results from buildings given base isolation shows that the frequency and speed experienced by the structure is reduced compared to those without base isolation. These changes can reduce the impact caused by the earthquake that occurred.

This book presents a simple analytical method based on the extended rod theory that allows the earthquake resistance of high-rise buildings to be easily and accurately evaluated at the preliminary design stage. It also includes practical software for applying the extended rod theory to the dynamic analysis of actual buildings and structures. High-rise buildings in large cities, built on soft ground consisting of sedimentary rock, tend to have low natural frequency. If ground motion due to an earthquake occurs at distant hypocenters, the vibration wave can be propagated through several sedimentary layers and act on skyscrapers as a long-period ground motion, potentially producing a resonance phenomenon that can cause severe damage. Accordingly, there is a pressing need to gauge the earthquake resistance of existing skyscrapers and to improve their seismic performance. This book was written by authors who have extensive experience in tall-building seismic design in Japan. The software included enables readers to perform dynamic calculations of skyscrapers resistance to vibrations. As such, it offers a valuable resource for practitioners and engineers, as well as students of civil engineering.

ABSTRAK Indonesia merupakan salah satu wilayah yang rentan akan potensi kerusakan struktur akibat gempa bumi karena terletak pada perbatasan antar lempeng utama dunia. Dalam upaya memitigasi kerusakan tersebut, telah diterbitkan peraturan Tata Cara Perencanaan Ketahanan Gempa untuk Bangunan Gedung (SNI 03- 1726-2002). Namun demikian, masih terdapat bangunan gedung di Indonesia, terutama di Jakarta, yang dibangun sebelum peraturan ketahanan gempa diterbitkan sehingga perancangan struktur bangunan tersebut mungkin tidak memperhitungkan ketahanan terhadap gempa, seperti pada Gedung X. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan tingkat keamanan dan kelayakan struktur bangunan eksisting seperti Gedung X dengan melakukan evaluasi sesuai kerangka evaluasi ketahanan gempa bangunan eksisting yang terdiri dari analisis struktur, pemeriksaan kekuatan dan kekakuan struktur. Berdasarkan evaluasi yang telah dilakukan dalam penelitian ini, ditemukan defisiensi pada kekuatan struktur Gedung X dalam menahan beban gempa. Struktur itu kemudian diperbaiki menggunakan metode peningkatan kinerja elemen eksisting dengan teknik concrete jacketing pada kolom dan fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) pada balok. Setelah dilakukan analisis struktur dan pemeriksaan kembali, didapatkan bahwa struktur tersebut telah memiliki kekuatan dan kekakuan yang cukup dalam menahan beban gempa nominal akibat gempa rencana sesuai dengan SNI 03-1726-2002.
ABSTRACT Indonesia is one of the most vulnerable regions of structural destruction potencies due to earthquake because it lays on the major tectonic plates boundaries in the world. To mitigate the destruction of building structures due to earthquake, the regulation of the Seismic Design for Buildings (SNI 03-1726-2002) has been published. Nevertheless, There are existing buildings in Indonesia, in particular Jakarta, that had been constructed before the first seismic design regulation was published thus the structural design of them might not include the seismic design, like that of X Building. Therefore, this research aims to determine the safety dan proper level of existing building structures like X Building by carrying out an evaluation based on seismic evaluation of existing building framework that consists of existing structural analysis and strength-stiffness check. Based on the evaluation that has been done, the deficiency on structural strength of X Building in resisting the earthquake induced force was found. The structure was then rehabilitated using enhancing the performance of existing elements methods by concrete jacketing on columns and fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) technique on beams. After the structural analysis and check had been done again, it was found that the structure already had sufficient stiffness and strength capacity in resisting the nominal earthquake loads due to design earthquake based on SNI 03-1726-2002.
