"Model basis data relasional telah terbukti sebagai model yang tepat dalam sistem manajemen informasi dan telah diterapkan dalam berbagai aplikasi. Penggunaan model basis data relasional sangat efektif untuk data yang pasti dan tidak ambigu. Namun demikian, aplikasi dunia nyata seringkali mengandung informasi yang tidak tepat dan tidak pasti di dalamya. Model basis data relasional yang ada saat ini tidak dapat mengakomodasi informasi yang tidak sempurna tersebut. Oleh sebab itu, diperlukan sebuah model basis data relasional baru yang dapat memenuhi kebutuhan itu. Kombinasi antara teknologi basis data dan teknik fuzzy menghasilkan sebuah konsep bernama basis data fuzzy.
Penelitian pada Tugas Akhir ini telah mengembangkan Sistem Basis Data Fuzzy yang berjalan diatas DBMS konvensional. Modul utama yang dikembangkan adalah fuzzy interpreter yang dapat mentransformasikan query fuzzy yang diberikan pengguna ke dalam query crisp sehingga bisa dieksekusi pada DBMS. Modul ini juga mentransformasikan hasil crisp yang diberikan basis data ke hasil fuzzy untuk diberikan kembali ke pengguna. Dalam basis data konvensional, operasi union dan intersection adalah dua operasi himpunan yang penting karena sering digunakan.
Penelitian pada Tugas Akhir ini telah sukses mengaplikasikan operasi-operasi fuzzy union dan fuzzy intersection pada fuzzy interpreter Sistem Basis Data Fuzzy. Tugas Akhir ini membuktikan bahwa basis data fuzzy lebih baik daripada basis data konvensional karena dapat memberikan hasil yang lebih lengkap dan mengatasi permasalahan pada beberapa kasus dunia nyata yang tidak bisa dilakukan oleh basis data konvensional.

Relational database model is proven as good model in information management system and applied in several applications. Relational database model is effective for precise and unambiguous data. However, real world applications often have imprecise and uncertain information. Current relational database model can?t accommodate imperfect information. So that, new database relational model that can accommodate those requirement is needed. Combination between database technology and fuzzy technique produce a fuzzy database concept.
Research in this Final Project has developed Fuzzy Database Systems that uses convensional DBMS. Major modul that has developed is fuzzy interpreter that can transform fuzzy query into crisp query so that it can be executed by DBMS. This modul also transform crisp result from database into fuzzy result to the user. In conventional database, union and intersection operations are two important set operations because they often used.
Research in this Final Project is successfully implemented fuzzy union and fuzzy intersection operations in fuzzy interpreter Fuzzy Database Systems. This Final Project prove that fuzzy database is better than conventional database because it can give more complete result and solve some real world problems that can?t be solved by conventional database."
