"Proses Electroless Plating partikel Al2O3 dengan larutan elektrolit (HNO3+Al+Mg) dapat meningkatkan wettability dari Al2O3 dengan membentuk fasa spinel (MgAl2O4). Pada penelitian ini dilakukan variasi penambahan magnesium dengan konsentrasi 0.002 mol, 0.004 mol, 0.006 mol, 0,008 mol, dan 0.012 mol dengan konsentrasi aluminum tetap 0.018 mol.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan magnesium dengan konsentrasi 0,004 mol pada larutan electroless plating menghasilkan lapisan spinel tipis pada permukaan partikel Al2O3 secara merata. Al2O3 hasil proses electroless plating dijadikan bahan penguat untuk membuat Aluminum Matrix Composite (AMC) dengan volum fraksi 22,5%.

Electroless plating process of Al2O3 particles with electrolyte solution (HNO3+Al+Mg) could improve the wettability of the Al2O3 to form the spinel (MgAl2O4) phase. In this research, the addition of magnesium to the variation of concentration was 0.002 mol, 0.004 mol, 0.006 mol, 0.008 mol, and 0.012 mol with a fixed concentration of 0.018 mol of aluminum.
It was shown that the addition of 0.004 mol of magnesium concentration in the electroless plating solution produce a thin layer of spinel on the surface of Al2O3 particles evenly. The Al2O3 plated, used as a reinforcement material for Aluminum Matrix Composite (AMC) with the volume fraction of 22.5%.

"Aluminum matrix composite which was reinforced by ceramic is one of MMCs which is developed as
automotive port. This current research use aluminum as matrix: and alumina (Al2O} powderas
reinforced with volume fraction of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%. With-Almg coatied by electroless. The result
show that composite with Al+Mg coating owned better interfacial bonding than composite without
coating. The highest elasticity moduli of Al2O3 is forward at volume fraction of 40% is 259.9 GPa.
However elasticity modulus of composite without coating treatment with volume fraction 40% is l 78,8
GPa, or increased about 45%.
