"ABSTRACT
This paper is an attempt to theorize a conceptual framework for Korean English education in response to the contextual need that South Koreans are facing in the age of neoliberal globalization. As an impact of globalization, the influx of foreign people and cultures has made South Korea a growing multicultural society. However, Koreas response to globalization does not reflect the multicultural aspect of its local context, considering the nationality and ethnicity of foreign residents in South Korea. By critically examining multicultural practices in Korean society portrayed in the media and in English pedagogy, which emphasizes linguistic competence and Western superiority in the name of achieving global leadership, this paper provides a critical multicultural insight that can help reshape educational goals for Korean English education. This paper highlights the importance of raising a socially just global consciousness for Koreans by incorporating critical multiculturalism into English education. Practical pedagogical implications for English teachers will also be drawn."

"Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang upaya Dewan Pendidikan kota Toda bersama Softbank C&S yang telah memperkenalkan robot kecerdasan buatan untuk kelas aktivitas bahasa Inggris di kota Toda, prefektur Saitama, Jepang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui alasan Dewan Pendidikan kota Toda mengupayakan uji coba robot kecerdasan buatan tersebut untuk kelas aktivitas bahasa Inggris di kota Toda.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi kasus di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 2 Kota Toda melalui wawancara mendalam. Penelitian ini mengkaitkan kasus uji coba robot kecerdasan buatan ini dengan konsep kolaborasi industri, pemerintah, dan akademisi di Jepang (Sankangaku Renkei).
Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa inisiatif lokal dan iklim kolaborasi untuk pendidikan di kota Toda begitu nyata. Selain itu, efektivitas dan kendala pemanfaatan robot kecerdasan buatan tersebut juga dapat diketahui.

This study examines the efforts of Toda City Board of Education with Softbank C&S who have introduced an Artificial Intelligence robot for English activity class in Toda City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. This study aims to find out the reason why Toda City Board of Education strives to Artificial Intelligence robot trial for an English activity class in Toda City.
This study uses a qualitative method with a case study in Toda Daini Elementary School through deep interview. This study links this Artificial Intelligence robot trial with the concept of industry, government and academics collaboration in Japan (Sankangaku Renkei).
The results of this study found that local initiatives and collaborative climate for education in Toda City were so real. In addition, the effectiveness and obstacles of this Artificial Intelligence robot can also be known.
