"Artikel ini mengidentifikasi konsep-konsep dalam teori uses and gratification dalam konsumsi serial drama medis Grey’s Anatomy. Sebagai serial drama medis terlama, Grey's Anatomy telah membuktikan eksistensinya sebagai bagian penting dari dunia acara televisi, khususnya dalam genre drama medis. Pandemi COVID-19 mendorong kebutuhan yang lebih besar akan hiburan, terutama tayangan televisi dan film karena kemudahan akses terhadap jenis hiburan dari saluran tersebut. Dengan menggunakan tipologi motif konsumsi dalam konsep penggunaan dan pemenuhan kebutuhan (uses and gratification), penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan motivasi khalayak dalam mengkonsumsi Grey's Anatomy, sebuah serial medis yang menggambarkan pandemi global, terutama realitas sebagai tenaga kesehatan selama pandemi. Tipologi penggunaan dan gratifikasi dibagi menjadi empat kategori: pengalihan, hubungan pribadi, identitas pribadi, dan pengawasan. Dengan memanfaatkan kategorisasi tersebut, artikel ini berargumen bahwa penonton Grey's Anatomy mengakses serial drama medis untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hiburan mereka.

This article identifies the uses and gratification of audiences who watch medical drama shows, particularly Grey’s Anatomy. As the longest-running medical drama series, Grey’s Anatomy has become an essential part of the television show world, particularly in the medical drama genre. The COVID-19 pandemic has left a more significant need for entertainment, especially from television shows and movies, since they are relatively easy to access, even from home. Utilising the typologies of audiences’ consumption motives in the uses and gratification concept, this study aims to explain the case of Grey’s Anatomy, a medical series that depicts the global pandemic and focuses solely on the virus, with sides of the reality as health workers during the pandemic. The uses and gratifications typologies divided into four categories: diversion, personal relationships, personal identity, and surveillance. The article argues that the viewers of Grey’s Anatomy use the medical drama to satisfy their entertainment needs and seek fulfilment."
