"[Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan bagaimana unsur-unsur humor digunakan untuk memarodikan konsep maskulinitas agen rahasia dalam film Austin Powers : International Man of Mystery dan Austin Powers : The Spy Who Shagged Me dan menunjukkan bagaimana parodi dan tawa bekerja untuk mempertahankan atau menolak sebuah ideologi dominan maskulinitas agen rahasia James Bond. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi tipologi humor yang digunakan dalam kedua film dan membandingkan atribut-atribut maskulinitas Austin Powers dengan konsep maskulinitas agen rahasia ideal menggunakan pendekatan semiotik. Penelitian menemukan bahwa di satu sisi kedua film berusaha untuk membongkar konsep maskulinitas ideal tersebut, sementara di sisi lain ditemukan juga adanya peneguhan konsep maskulinitas ideal yang dilakukan oleh kedua film.
......The purpose of this thesis is to show how the typology of humor in parody films is used in Austin Powers : International Man of Mystery and The Spy Who Shagged Me to strengthen and/or resist the dominant ideology represented by the ideal male secret agent masculinity ideology in James Bond movies. The analysis is conducted by identifying the typology of humor used in the films and comparing Austin Powers’ masculinity attributes to the ideal secret agent masculinity attributes using semiotic approach. The findings reveal that the films strengthen
