Phoebe declinata Nees merupakan tanaman asli Indonesia yang berpotensi memiliki senyawa yang beraktivitas farmakologis. Pada penelitian ini, isolasi dari kulit batang Phoebe declinata Nees ditujukan untuk mendapat senyawa alkaloid. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan dalam proses isolasi adalah metode ekstraksi refluks secara bertingkat. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan berturut-turut dengan pelarut heksana dan diklorometan. Ekstrak kental diklorometan yang diperoleh difraksinasi dengan kromatografi kolom. Kromatografi kolom pertama dilakukan menggunakan fase gerak diklorometan dan metanol serta silika gel sebagai fase diamnya. Fraksi yang diketahui menunjukkan hasil positif alkaloid dan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan selanjutnya dikolom ulang dengan fase gerak heksana dan etil asetat. Salah satu fraksi hasil kolom kedua menunjukkan terbentunya kristal yang positif terhadap pereaksi alkaloid. Kristal yang didapat dimurnikan dan ditentukan kemurniannya dengan kromatografi lapis tipis 2 dimensi dan diuji titik lelehnya, selanjutnya isolat disebut sebagai PD2. Isolat PD2 dikarakterisasi dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis, IR, 1H, dan 13C-NMR, serta diketahui sebagai alkaloid yang memiliki gugus metoksi dengan inti aromatis. Isolat yang diperoleh tersebut diuji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan 1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrasil (DPPH). Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa isolat PD2 memiliki aktivitas antiokasidan yang lemah, yakni dengan IC50 sebesar 148,4 μg/mL. Pembanding yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah boldin, yaitu dengan IC50 5,8 μg/mL. ......Phoebe declinata Nees is one of potential Indonesia plant species in exhibition various therapeutic chemical constituent. Isolation from the bark of this plant is afforded to alkaloid group. The extraction method was divided into two steps. Each step used reflux with hexane and dichloromethane solvent, respectively. The yield of dichloromethane crude extract achieved to first column chromatography with dichloromethane-methanol as its mobile phase and silica gel 60 as its stationary phase. The fraction which had alkaloid and indicated highest antioxidant activity was proceeded to the next fractionation by second column chromatography with mobile phase hexane-ethylacetate and the same previous stationary phase. One of the fractions yield was found crystals positive of alkaloid reaction. The crystal was purified and determined its purities by 2D thin layer chromatography and melting point range. The crystal then named as PD2. Characterization of PD2 was established using UV-Vis, IR, 1H, and 13C-NMR spectroscopic data, and known as an aromatic alkaloid substituted by methoxy. The alkaloid isolated was also subjected to investigate of its antioxidant activity by DPPH method. IC50 was noticed to be 148.4 μg/mL which is weakly free radical scavenging activity. The standard used was boldin that had IC50 5.8 μg/mL by the same method.

Era industri4.0 menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi masyarakat karena membawa dampak yang besar pada bidang industri, ekonomi, sosial masyarakat bahkan pendidikan. Pada era industri 4.0 dibutuhkan sumber daya manusia yang memiliki ketrampilan berbeda. Melalui studi literatur, tulisan ini bertujuan mengetahui keberadaan industri 4.0 dikaitkan dengan model pembelajaran STEM. Apa tantangan yang dihadapi serta bagaimana seharusnya model pembelajaran STEM tersebut diterapkan. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan harus mengambil peran aktif dalam mempersiapkan sumber daya manusia yang adaptif terhadap keberadaan era industry 4.0. Peran tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat era industri 4.0. Model pembelajaran STEM dipilih karena menggunakan pendekatan yang mampu mengintegrasikan beberapa disiplin ilmu sains, teknologi, rekayasa, dan matematika yang membentuk skill yang membentuk skill yang diperlukan diera industri 4.0

In recent years, cancer stem cells have been recognized as important component in carcinogenesis and they seem to form the basis of many (if not all) tumor types. Cancer stem cells or "cancer cell like stem cells" have been isolated from various cancers of different origin (blood, breast, brain, skin, head and neck, thyroid, cervix, lung, retina, colon, pancreas and so on). Cancer stem cells - rare cells with indefinite proliferative potential that drive the formation and growth of tumours- seem to show intriguing relationships with physiological stem cells. Specifically, these cancer cells show significant similarities in the mechanisms that regulate self-renewal of normal stem cells. Moreover, tumour cells might directly arise from normal stem cells. Further, the cellular biology of cancer stem cells show a lot of similarities with normal stem cells.

Vast therapeutic applications of the following specific stem cells in disease and tissue injury are discussed, embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, human hair follicle stem cells, bone marrow-derived human mesenchymal stem cells, adipose-derived stem cells, periodontal/progenitor cells, cancer stem cells, and breast cancer stem cells. Because human embryonic stem cells possess the potential to produce unlimited quantities of any human cell type, considerable focus is placed on this type of stem cells in this volume. The role of cancer stem cells, specifically in breast cancer is explained. Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells to aid the injured brain is included. Immune recovery after stem cells transplantation in severe combined immunodeficiency patients is described. The role of mesenchymal stem cells in enhancing the growth and metastasis of colon cancer is discussed. Clinical application of human follicle stem cells is presented. Treatment of malignant gliomas using genetically-modified neural stem cells as a marker is discussed. The impact of cancer stem cell hypothesis on designing new cancer therapies is explained. In the field of regenerative medicine, the use of stem cells in the repair of the central nervous system, tendon injury, and as a cardiac regenerative medicine is described. The role of DNA methylation in maintaining stemness induced pluripotent stem cells from human extraembryonic amnion cells is discussed. Insights on the understanding of molecular pathways involved in tumor biology are explained, which lead to the development of effective drugs. Information on pathways, such as hedgehog, facilitates targeted therapies in cancer.
