Abstrak :
Barack Obama, a skillful rhetorician and intelligent politician, talks of restoring the American and has used its narrative resources to define his campaign and his policies. In a time of international and domestic crisis, of massive sovereign debt, of the failure of neoliberalism, of growing inequalities, the question is whether the American Dream and the vision of an equal education on which it rests can be revitalized.

Abstrak :
The book discusses how the use of some election rules embedded in the U.S. Constitution and in the presidential succession Act may cause skewed or weird election outcomes and election stalemates. The book argues that the act may not cover some rare though possible situations which the twentieth amendment authorizes congress to address. Also, the book questions the constitutionality of the national popular vote plan to introduce a direct popular presidential election de facto, without amending the constitution, and addresses the plan?s ?achilles? heel.? In particular, the book shows that the plan may violate the equal protection clause from the fourteenth amendment of the constitution. Numerical examples are provided to show that the counterintuitive claims of the NPV originators and proponents that the plan will encourage presidential candidates to ?chase? every vote in every state do not have any grounds. Finally, the book proposes a plan for improving the election system by combining at the national level the ?one state, one vote? principle, embedded in the constitution, and the ?one person, one vote? principle.

Skripsi ini membahas penyebab kemiskinan petani di zona penyangga kawasan konservasi Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Pangrango. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan gambaran penyebab kemiskinan petani menggunakan Sustainable Livelihood Framework yang fokus pada 5 tema besar yaitu; (1) konteks kerentanan, (2) aset-aset mata pencaharian, (3) organisasi, kebijakan dan proses, (4) strategi mata pencaharian, (5) hasil-hasil mata pencaharian. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa penyebab kemiskinan di zona penyangga kawasan konservasi Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Pangrango lebih dominan pada kerentanan perubahan iklim dan serangan hama, serta rendahnya sumber daya manusia terutama pada pendidikan. ......This thesis is discussing on causes of poverty of farmers in Sukaresmi Village around Buffer Zone of Gede Pangrango National Park. This is a qualitative research with a descriptive method. The purpose of this research is to describe causes of poverty of farmers based on Sustainable Livelihood Framework focusing on five points; (1) Vulnerability Context, (2) Livelihood Assets, (3) Organization, Policy and Process, (4) Livelihood Strategies, (5) Livelihood Outcomes. The result of this research shows that the causes of poverty of farmers around buffer zone are dominant on climate change, pest infestations and lack of human resources such as education.
