"West season represent period of strong blowing wind in southern waters of Malang, East Java Province with maximum speed of wind reaching 31.37 that happened in Februari 2008, while average speed of wind 10.16 knot. During this season wind pattern even also relative more disseminating to all direction compared to other seasons. Westerly wind is dominant at the season. During three next seasons, namely early-year switchover season, east season and year-end switchover season, wind pattern settdly blow from east and south-east directions. Speed of its feeber wind even also than west season, specially at early-year switchover and year-end switchover seasons. East wind is predominating wind puff since April till November with strongest blowing 23.19 knot happened in July and average speed of this wind reach maximum 15.39 knot in August. March become period of calm wind puff with wind blowing disseminating from all direction relatively . Average speed of wind in this month only 5.90 knot and speed of the strongest 12.93 knot only. February - March mark a period of wind gradient strongest and average speeds with maximum and minimum reaching during December 2007 till November 2008."

"Untuk keamanan konstruksi bangunan, investigasi perilaku tanah terhadap beban menara dimana pondasi berada perlu dilakukan. Geologi regional menunjukkan bahwa menara berada pada Formasi Jampang Anggota Cikarang (Tmjc) dimana pada lokasi tersebut dikenali dua jenis tipe tanah sebagai alas pondasi yang memiliki parameter tanah yang berbeda. Lanau dan lanau lempungan akan diinvestigasi untuk menggambarkan perilaku tanah terhadap total beban menara yang bekerja. Model numerik dengan software Plaxis digunakan untuk menganalisis perilaku tanah di bawah menara khususnya pada kondisi jenuh dan tidak jenuh air. Analisis dibagi dalam empat langkah yang diasumsikan sebagai implementasi dari langkah-langkah pembangunan. Karena langkah pertama merupakan pemasangan pondasi, maka beban pertama yang diaplikasikan adalah beban vertikal. Fase-fase selanjutnya adalah mendistribusikan beban mati yang berupa beban merata dan beban titik dari menara. Berdasarkan hasil akhir Plaxis, dapat diketahui distribusi dan perpindahan dari seluruh kondisi memiliki pola yang sama. Namun nilai terbesar dari perpindahan dapat jelas ditemukan pada kondisi jenuh dengan nilai sebesar 50,23x10-3 meter sementara pada kondisi tidak jenuh hanya sebesar 44,44x10-3 meter. Selanjutnya, model menunjukkan sebaran titik plastik pada kondisi jenuh lebih besar dari kondisi tidak jenuh air."

"A ship usually performs maneuvers under the influence of external forces and moments, such as wind, waves, and current. Therefore, it is important to understand the maneuvering behavior of ships under the action of external forces. This paper discusses the turning maneuvers of an Indonesian roro ferry under the combined influence of constant wind and regular waves using the mathematical modelling group (MMG). The ship’s position relative to the wave trough is added to the original MMG model to estimate the exciting forces and moment induced by the waves. The results of a numerical simulation show that the effect of wave height on turning ability is more significant for a small wavelength; this effect decreases as the wavelength increases. The effect of wavelength on the sway force and yaw moment is more significant compared with its effect on the surge force. The ship’s initial position relative to the wave trough does not have a significant effect on the turning characteristic and it can be neglected for the present study’s subject ship. Overall, the results of the present work compare well with published data."
