Keterlibatan Australia dalam Perang Vietnam yang dimulai sejak era Pemerintahan Perdana Menteri Robert Menzies pada pertengahan tahun 1960-an menjadi sebuah periode sejarah yang kompleks bagi Australia karena keputusan Pemerintahan Partai Liberal Australia menyertakan tentara Australia dalam perjalanannya melahirkan pro dan kontra di kalangan masyarakat Australia. Kehadiran tentara Australia dalam Perang Vietnam sebagai bagian dukungan terhadap Amerika Serikat yang secara umum memiliki tujuan untuk membendung penyebaran paham komunis di Asia Tenggara. Pada akhirnya, Perang Vietnam tidak dapat diselesaikan dengan cepat. Permasalahan Vietnam ini menjadi sebuah masalah yang kemudian dimanfaatkan oleh politikus Australia untuk mencari dukungan politik. Skripsi ini mencoba membahas mengenai keterlibatan Australia Dalam Perang Vietnam, latar belakang, serta akibat yang timbul terutama mengenai pergolakkan yang ada di dalam negeri Australia terkait keterlibatam Australia dalam Perang Vietnam.
Australia_s involvement in the Vietnam War started since the government of Prime Minister Robert Menzies era in mid 1960s became a complex historical period of Australia. It was caused by the policy of Australian Liberal Party which sent Australian troops to Vietnam. It created dispute in many groups of the Australian people. The presence of Australian troops in the Vietnam war as a part of support for United States of America in general had a purpose to stop the spread of Communism in Southeast Asia. However, this problem could not be solved quickly. As time goes by, it became a commodity for Australian politicians to seek political support. This paper will discuss Australia_s involvement in the Vietnam War, its background, and its consequence to Australian politics in that country in relation with Australia_s involvement in the Vietnam War.
