Questions of home and belonging have never been more topical. Populist politicians in both Europe and America play on anxieties over globalisation by promising to reconstitute the national home, through cutting immigration and 'taking back control'. Increasing numbers of young people are unable to afford home-ownership, a trend with implications for the future shape of families and communities. The dominant conceptualisations of home in the twentieth century--the nation-state and the suburban nuclear household--are in crisis, yet they continue to shape our personal and political aspirations. Home: The Foundations of Belonging puts these issues into context by drawing on a range of disciplines to offer a deep anthropological and historical perspective on home. Beginning with a vision of modernity as characterised by both spiralling liminality and an ongoing quest for belonging, it plumbs the archaic roots of Western civilisation and assembles a wide body of comparative anthropological evidence to illuminate the foundations of a sense of home. Home is theorised as a stable centre around which we organise both everyday routines and perspectives on reality, bringing order to a chaotic world and overcoming liminality. Constituted by a set of ongoing processes which concentrate and embody meaning in intimate relationships, everyday rituals and familiar places, a shared home becomes the foundation for community and society. The Foundations of Belonging thus elevates 'home' to the position of a foundational sociological and anthropological concept at a moment when the crisis of globalisation has opened the way to a revaluation of the local.

Identity became an important thing for Chinese Moslem in order to interact with the other society. Mostly, The Chinese Moslem was Muallaf, a person who became Moslem not because they were born as moslem but with changing their religion into Moslem. They?ve been accepted by the local society, despite the fact that there are a lot of stereotype and rejection towards the Chinese by the local society. The acceptance towards the Chinese Moslem arisen the sense of belonging between the local society and the Chinese Moslem Society itself. This condition had loosened the social barriers between the two societies. In fact, those two societies are now bounded in some kind of positive atmosphere. Eventhough, the Chinese Moslem had already melted with the local society, but there are still some problems that occur in their new life as a Chinese Moslem. Somehow, they got abandoned by their own non-Moslem Chinese family or friends. So that?s why, for the Chinese Moslem, symbols and attributes are really important as a part of interaction strategy. We can?t set aside the existence of the Chinese Moslem community as a place for them to interact, communicate, or share their thoughts and opinions with the other Chinese Muallaf. This community already became their nice and comfort second home.

......Social media has become an important part of our daily life. ......Existing literature demonstrated associations between personality types and needs with Facebook use. However, most existing studies focus on all five traits under the Five Factor Model, making the study not narrow enough. Traits of extraversion and agreeableness have been shown to overlap with social belonging, and all three variables have shown to be somewhat correlated with Facebook use. This study aims to examine the relationship between Facebook use and extraversion, agreeableness, and social belonging, separately. Respondents from a community sample (N = 852) participated in answering a correlational survey disseminated online. Results showed a significant positive correlation between Facebook use and extraversion and Facebook use and social belonging. Thus, more extroverted individuals and those with higher perceived social belonging may use Facebook more. However, no significant correlation was found for Facebook use and agreeableness. This hints at a possible role of gender in the relationship of the two variables. Further implications of the results are discussed, and the present study offers suggestions for future research regarding this topic.

As colonial Indonesia never was intended to be a “settler colony”, many Dutch citizens spent only a certain period of their lives there before returning to the Netherlands. However, there were also Europeans, many with Asian-European roots, who had called the colony home for generations and were forced to leave that home after 1945. All these different types of colonial migrants were displaced and maintained, built and reinforced their relations with the country (whether it was the colony or the “motherland”) they had left. This transnationalism (or, as I argue here, imperial orientation) took shape not only legally or relationally but also experientially (D. Ip, C. Inglis, and C.T. Wu 1997). In this article I show how, in both the colonial and post-colonial periods, objects helped European colonial migrants establish and maintain social relationships. Objects shaped identities and people’s status; bolstering increase migrants’ sense of “a continuous transnational self and identity”, a feeling of home, but also feelings of displacement.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to examine transnational belonging among Bangladeshi migrants in South Korea. The results showed that Bangladeshi migrants in South Korea have strong transnational belonging to their homeland. The highest degrees of transnational belonging were found to be a motherhoodlike relationship with their homeland, in the category of autographical belonging; talking in their native language and eating traditional food in the area of cultural originality belonging; watching Bangladeshi television in cultural entertainment belonging; taking care of families who stay in the homeland in economic livelihood belonging; saving money for future wellbeing in economic financial belonging; feeling proud of being a Bangladeshi citizen in legal psychological belonging; and feeling secure as a Bangladeshi citizen in legal safety and security belonging. Transnational belonging to the homeland varies more by present occupation, visa status, and reason for migration, while labor migrants who hold E9 visas and migrants who migrated for economic reasons showed stronger transnational economic livelihood belonging and economic finance belonging. This study suggests subsequent studies to compare transnational belonging of various migrant groups through sampling based on sociodemographic factors.
