"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh mindfulness pada penggunaan fitur Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) terhadap financial well-being dengan faktor perilaku seperti pembelian impulsif dan financial self-control, serta faktor emosi sebagai mediasi. Penelitian ini juga menyertakan faktor materialisme untuk melihat pengaruh moderasi dari hubungan penggunaan BNPL terhadap financial well-being. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode PLS-SEM untuk menguji hipotesis. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 304 individu baik pengguna aktif BNPL maupun yang tidak pernah menggunakan fitur tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mindfulness berpengaruh terhadap penggunaan BNPL baik secara langsung maupun dimediasi melalui pembelian impulsif dan financial self-control, sementara emosi tidak signifikan dalam memediasi hubungan mindfulness terhadap penggunaan BNPL. Oleh karena itu, mindfulness diasosiasikan dengan menurunnya perilaku pembelian impulsif dan meningkatkan financial self-control. Selanjutnya, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan penggunaan BNPL berpengaruh terhadap financial well-being baik secara langsung maupun dimediasi oleh variabel current money management stress dan expected future financial security. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan BNPL dikaitkan dengan financial well-being yang lebih rendah dengan meningkatnya current money management stress serta menurunkan expected future financial security. Sementara materialisme tidak terbukti signifikan dalam memoderasi hubungan penggunaan BNPL terhadap financial well-being.

This study aims to investigate the influence of mindfulness on the usage of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) feature on financial well-being, considering behavioral factors such as impulsive buying and financial self-control, as well as emotional factors as mediators. The study also includes materialism as a moderating factor to examine its influence on the relationship between BNPL usage and financial well-being. The research adopts the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to test the hypotheses. The sample consists of 304 individuals, including both active BNPL users and non-users. The findings of the study indicate that mindfulness has a direct and mediated impact on BNPL usage through impulsive buying and financial self-control, while emotions do not significantly mediate the relationship between mindfulness and BNPL usage. Therefore, mindfulness is associated with reduced impulsive buying behavior and increased financial self-control. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that BNPL usage has a direct and mediated impact on financial well-being through current money management stress and expected future financial security. This suggests that the use of BNPL is associated with lower financial well-being, characterized by increased current money management stress and decreased expected future financial security. On the other hand, materialism is not found to significantly moderate the relationship between BNPL usage and financial well-being."

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti pengaruh antara financial literacy dan risky credit behavior dengan mediasi financial self-efficacy dan moderasi financial stress. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling menggunakan survei online kepada mahasiswa yang pernah menggunakan metode pembayaran paylater. Sebanyak 120 responden terkumpul yang kemudian diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan metode regresi dengan menggunakan SPSS 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa financial literacy signifikan berpengaruh negatif terhadap risky credit behavior mahasiswa. Selanjutnya, subjective financial literacy memiliki efek negatif yang lebih besar daripada objective financial literacy terhadap risky credit behavior. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa efek moderasi dari financial stress berhasil mempengaruhi hubungan antara subjective financial literacy dan risky credit behavior namun peranan efek moderasi terhadap objective financial literacy belum terlihat signifikansinya. Selanjutnya, financial self-efficacy signifikan memediasi secara parsial hubungan antara subjective financial literacy dan risky credit behavior namun tidak memediasi hubungan pada objective financial literacy.

 


This study aims to analyze the effect of financial literacy on risky credit behavior with financial self-efficacy as an mediating variables and financial stress as an moderating variables. Data collection was carried out by purposive sampling method using online surveys to students who had used the paylater payment method. A total of 120 respondents were collected which were then processed and analyzed using the regression method using SPSS 26. The results showed that financial literacy had a significant negative effect on the risky credit behavior of students. Furthermore, subjective financial literacy has a greater negative effect than objective financial literacy on risky credit behavior. This study also finds that the moderating effect of financial stress has succeeded in influencing the relationship between subjective financial literacy and risky credit behavior, but the role of the moderating effect on objective financial literacy has not been shown to be significant. Furthermore, financial self-efficacy partially partially mediates the relationship between subjective financial literacy and risky credit behavior but does not mediate the relationship on objective financial literacy.

"Sejak pertama kali diperkenalkan di Indonesia pada tahun 2018, BNPL memiliki tren yang pesat terutama jika dibandingkan dengan kartu kredit yang memiliki konsep sejenis dengannya. Walaupun begitu, apabila dibandingkan dengan metode pembayaran lain di e-commerce seperti digital wallet, virtual account, transfer bank, dan cash on delivery, penggunaan BNPL masih kurang unggul. Berangkat dari permasalahan tersebut, peneliti terdorong untuk mengeksplorasi faktor affordance yang memengaruhi minat bertransaksi menggunakan BNPL yang dimiliki oleh e-commerce. Hal ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan technology affordance theory (affordance theory—teori yang menjelaskan mengenai faktor yang dimiliki suatu artefak TI yang dapat dirasakan oleh seseorang) dan teori Technology Acceptance Model. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan exploratory sequential method. Pada penelitian kualitatif dilakukan pencarian affordance dari BNPL yang dimiliki oleh e-commerce melalui wawancara bersama 10 pengguna BNPL. Hasil wawancara diolah menggunakan thematic analysis sehingga terbentuk tema-tema yang digunakan untuk pembentukan model penelitian. Selanjutnya, peneliti menyebarkan kuesioner secara daring dan mendapatkan total 334 data responden yang valid. Data yang didapatkan kemudian diuji menggunakan PLS-SEM. Melalui hasil penelitian, didapatkan bahwa faktor affordance, yaitu informativeness, convenience, security, monetary benefit, dan immediate resource memiliki pengaruh terhadap minat bertransaksi menggunakan BNPL yang dimiliki oleh e-commerce. Namun, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat satu faktor affordance, yaitu financial management yang tidak terbukti memengaruhi minat bertransaksi menggunakan BNPL yang dimiliki oleh e-commerce. Di sisi lain, perceived ease of use tidak terbukti memengaruhi attitude seseorang terhadap BNPL.

Since it was introduced in 2018, BNPL had a rapid growth, outpacing credit cards that have a similar concept. Despite its popularity, compared to other payment methods in e- commerce such as, digital wallet, bank transfer, virtual account and Cash on Delivery, BNPL usage still lags behind. Based on this problem, researchers are encouraged to explore the affordance that influences purchase intention using BNPL in e-commerce. This study used technology affordance theory (which explains factors or features given by IT artifacts that can be perceived by someone) and Technology Acceptance Model. This research is conducted using mixed method, specifically exploratory sequential method approach. The qualitative research conducted to explore affordance of BNPL in e-commerce through interviews with 10 BNPL’s users. The result of the interview was then processed using thematic analysis to find potential themes used for the research model. Researchers distributed questionnaires online and got 334 valid respondent data. The research model was tested quantitatively using the PLS-SEM method. The result found that affordance factors such as informativeness, convenience, security, monetary benefit and immediate resource have been proven to influence purchase intention using BNPL in e-commerce. However, the study did not find a relationship between financial management affordance and purchase intention using BNPL in e-commerce. The result also showed that perceived ease of use don’t have significant relationship with individual attitude towards BNPL."
