One of the intentions is to create a comical aspect. Humour can be studied pragmatically within the incongruity theory. The focus of this study is to analyze the way maxims can be violated in order to create humour in the comedy TV series Don?t Trust the B--- in Apartment 23. The sitcom tells about the life of mismatched two girls, Chloe and June, who live together in New York City. This research is specifically aimed to examine the way speakers violate maxims and incongruity theory to conduct humour to the audience.
