Perkembangan teknologi yang ada menciptakan banyak inovasi-inovasi di segala bidang. Inovasi teknologi yang berbasis Internet, yaitu intranet dianggap dapat menjawab permasalahan tersebut. Penelitian mengenai bagaimana teknologi intranet tersebut digunakan dilihat dari difokuskan pada bagaimana dan kebiasaan serta kegunaan intranet bagi karyawan dalam bekerja.Penelitian menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dengan mewawancarai 9 orang narasumber yang yang terdiri dari satu orang mewakili manajemen senior sekaligus sebagai pemilik dari media komunikasi tersebut, satu orang berasal dari divisi komunikasi dan tujuh orang lainnya berasal dari divisi yang beraneka ragam. Selain melakukan wawancara, peneliti juga meneliti dari sumber lain seperti dokumen-dokumen, diskusi bebas dan grapevine.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan intranet sebagai media komunikasi yang dapat membantu tercapainya tujuan perusahaan, meningkatkan kinerja karyawan dan perusahaan masih rendah. Dukungan dari manajemen yang masih rendah serta sosialisasi mengenai pengguanaan teknologi intranet tidak banyak dilakukan sehingga penggunaan intranet menjadi tidak efektif. Namun banyak upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk memperbaiki keadaan tersebut sehingga tujuan dari penggunaan intranet sebagai media komunikasi internal di dalam organisasi TOTAL E&P INDONESIE dapat tercapai. Upaya yang dilakukan juga harus didukung dengan action plan yang matang, realistis serta sosialisasi yang semua pihak di dalam organisasi TOTAL E&P INDONESIE.Akhirnya, dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan, penulis merekomendasikan agar TOTAL E&P INDONESIE melakukan proses adopsi intranet dengan tepat dan menyeluruh kepada karyawannya serta didukung dengan perangkat peraturan mengenai penggunaannya. Adapun rekomendasi dari segi akademis agar penelitian selanjutnya dapat lebih memfokuskan analisa pada implementasi proses adopsi teknologi komunikasi sesuai dengan teori adaptasi teknologi dan teori komunikasi yang ada."
