"Pitt Ford's Problem-based Learning in Endodontics combines the theory and practice of endodontics, providing the reader with information that is both clinically relevant to everyday practice and also evidence based. Abstrak :
"Dental porcelain" merupakan bahan gigi tiruan cekat yang ideal sampai saat ini. Sifat-sif at dental porcelain dapat memenuhi semua sifat gigi-geligi dalam berfungsi sebagai alat pengunyah, estetis, kenyamanan, kesehatan mulut dan kesehatan umum. Untuk memperoleh gigi tiruan cekat porcelain yang memenuhi kriteria tersebut di atas, perlu ditunjang oleh proses dan teknologi laboratorium yang memadai. Untuk keperluan fungsi pengunyahan, diperlukan kekerasan tertentu dari bahan gigi tiruan cekat. Dental porcelain mempunyai kekerasan di atas kekerasan email gigi asli. Agar dapat diperoleh kekerasan yang optimal dari dental porcelain, harus dilakukan kondensasi yang adekuat. Terdapat asumsi bahwa cara kondensasi yang berbeda dapat menghasilkan kekerasan yang berbeda. Ol eh karena itu telah dilakukan penelitian dengan pendekatan eksperimental laboratorik untuk mempelajari seberapa jauh perbedaan antara kondensasi dengan cara manual dan kondensasi dengan menggunakan vibrator terhadap kekerasan porcelain. Data berupa hasil rata-rata kekerasan porcelain dengan ukuran KHN. Kemudian dievaluasi perbedaannya dengan menggunakan t test. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna antara cara kondensasi secara manual dan dengan menggunakan vibrator. Kekerasan porcelain yang dihasilkan dengan cara kondensasi menggunakan vibrator lebih besar bila dibandingkan dengan yang dihasilkan secara kondensasi manual dengan p = 0,01. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa cara kondensasi menggunakan vibrator memberikan hasil kekerasan porcelain yang memadai.
