Abstrak :
The objective of this research is to describe (1) the concept of nation's character education; 2) resources and scope of nation's character education; 3) efforts for nation's character building at school; and 4) method of nation's character building at school and family. The method of this study used library research. Based on the result of the study, it may be concluded that: 1) nation's character education is a system to build character values at school community involving components of knowledge, awereness or willingness, and action to perform those values, either to the Almaighty God, self, other human beigs, environment, or country so that the students will be a holistic human beings. 2) resources for nation's character education include values contained in Pancasila and norms of Indonesian Constitution from 1945; While scope of nation's character education involves: objectives that describe the equality of intended character, the most effective material to acheve the objectives, effective instructional goals; 3) Nation's character education at the school can be performed through the habituation of good attitude and behaviour from early childhood and to be continued persistenty and sustainably pursuant to the level of development of learners and their environment condition. Nation character education should be performed continously and involve student's parents and community; and 4) the method to build nation's character use behavior control. Lower grade students need more time to behavior control than higher grade students.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh fenomena pelaksanaan pendidikan
kebangsaan yang dilakukan oleh organisasi non-pemerintah. Ditengah-tengah
pudarnya kepedulian generasi muda akan nilai-nilai kebangsaan. Fokus penelitian
ini adalah pemberdayaan civil society dalam pelaksanaan pendidikan kebangsaan
di Pemuda Muhammadiyah, Pemuda Pancasila dan Puslaksuspeta. Penelitian ini
menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Pengumpulan data
penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam dan studi dokumentasi. Jumlah
informan penelitian adalah 8 orang. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa
pelaksanaan pendidikan kebangsaan yang dilakukan oleh Pemuda
Muhammadiyah, Pemuda Pancasila dan Puslaksuspeta sebagai civil society.
Penelitian ini menggunakan teori civil society Larry Diamond sebagai acuan
dalam merumuskan karakteristik civil society. Larry Diamond mengemukakan
konsep civil society yang memiliki ciri-ciri Organized Social Life that is
Voluntary, Self Generating, Self Supporting, Autonomous form the State, Bound
by Legal Order or Set of Shared Rules. Pemberdayaan civil society seyogyanya
dilakukan dengan pelaksanaan semua ciri-ciri tersebut dan pelaksanaan
pendidikan kebangsaan merupakan manifestasi konkrit dalam pemberdayaan civil
society. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menjelaskan pelaksanaan pendidikan
kebangsaan di masing-masing civil society; Pemuda Muhammadiyah, Pemuda
Pancasila dan Puslaksuspeta dengan model pemberdayaan civil society yang di
kembangkan dalam kegiatan-kegiatan organisasi masyarakat
ABSTRACT
This study was motivated by the phenomenon of national education
implementation carried out by non-governmental organization. Amid fading
concerns the younger generation will be national values. This research focus is the
empowerment of civil society in the implementation of national education in
Muhammadiyah Youth, Pemuda Pancasila and Puslaksuspeta. This study used a
qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Research data collection is done by
in-depth interviews and documentation. The number of informants research is 8
people. Discussion The study describes the implementation of national education
conducted by the Muhammadiyah Youth, Pemuda Pancasila and Puslaksuspeta as
civil society. This study uses the theory of civil society Larry Diamond as a
reference in formulating the characteristics of civil society. Larry Diamond argues
that the concept of civil society has the characteristics of Organized Social Life
that is Voluntary, Self Generating, Self Supporting, Autonomous form the State,
Bound by Legal Order or Shared Set of Rules. Empowerment of civil society
should be done with the implementation of all of these characteristics and the
implementation of national education is a concrete manifestation of the
empowerment of civil society. Conclusions This study describes the
implementation of national education in each of the civil society; Pemuda
Muhammadiyah, Pemuda Pancasila and Puslaksuspeta with civil society
empowerment model that was developed in the activities of civil society
organizations.
