"ABSTRAK
Objective: To evaluate the effect of 10 % Emblica offcinalis irrigation, which has anti inflammatory, antioxidative, and antimicrobial activities, adjunctive to scaling and root planing (SRP) for treatment of chronic periodontitis. Methods: Sixty six patients were randomly assigned to the negative control group (SRP saline irrigation; n 22), positive control group (SRP chlorhexidine irrigation; n 22), and test group (SRP 10 % E. offcinalis irrigation; n 22). Plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing pocket depth (PPD), clinical attachment level (CAL), and sulcus bleeding index (SBI) were monitored 3 months post-therapy. Results: There were signifcantly greater reductions in the mean PI, PPD, and SBI but a greater mean CAL at 3 months post therapy in the test group than in the negative control (p 0.05). Compared with the positive control, the test group demonstrated greater reduction in SBI but comparable improvements in PI, GI, CAL, deep pockets (PPD 5 until 6 mm, 7 mm), and sites with CAL 6 mm at 3 months post therapy (p 0.05) but less reduction in the mean PPD (p 0.05). Conclusions: E. offcinalis 10 % irrigant adjunctive to SRP improved periodontal healing without side effects and may be an alternative to chlorhexidine for chronic periodontitis treatment. "

"Pada penelitian ini dilakukan sintesis dan karakterisasi nanopartikel ZnO, nanopartikel DyVO4 dan nanokomposit ZnO/DyVO4 serta uji aktivitas fotokatalitik nya terhadap degradasi tetrasiklin. Metode sintesis yang digunakan adalah green synthesis dengan menggunakan ekstrak daun malaka (Emblica officinalis) dengan sistem dua fasa. Ekstrak n-heksana daun malaka memiliki kandungan metabolit sekunder seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, dan steroid yang berperan sebagai basa lemah dan capping agent untuk sintesis nanopartikel. Uji Karakterisasi pada penelitian ini adalah FTIR, UV-Vis DRS, XRD, dan SEM. Nilai band gap dari nanopartikel ZnO, nanopartikel DyVO4, nanokomposit ZnO/DyVO4 masing-masing sebesar 3,23 eV; 2,33 eV , dan 2,81 eV . Berdasarkan hasil uji aktivitas fotokatalitik menunjukkan nanokomposit ZnO/DyVO4 memiliki aktivitas fotokatalitik paling baik diantara nanopartikel ZnO dan DyVO4 dalam mendegradasi tetrasiklin dibawah sinar tampak selama 120 menit. Hasil degradasi tetrasiklin ZnO/DyVO4, DyVO4, dan ZnO berturut-turut adalah 94,34%, 81,56%, 31,63%. Untuk reaksi fotodegradasi tetrasiklin menggunakan ZnO/DyVO4 pada massa optimum 6 mg mengikuti model kinetika laju orde satu sebesar 2,23 x 10-2 min-1.
......In this research, synthesis and characterization of ZnO nanoparticles, DyVO4 nanoparticles and ZnO/DyVO4 nanocomposites were carried out as well as testing their photocatalytic activity against tetracycline degradation. The synthesis method used is green synthesis using Malaka leaf extract (Emblica officinalis) with a two-phase system. The n-hexane extract of Malacca leaf contains secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and steroids which act as weak bases and capping agents for the synthesis of nanoparticles. Characterization tests in this study were FTIR, UV-Vis DRS, and XRD, FESEM-EDX. The band gap values of ZnO nanoparticles, DyVO4 nanoparticles, ZnO/DyVO4 nanocomposites were 3.23 eV; 2.33 eV, and 2.81 eV. Based on the results of the photocatalytic activity test, it was shown that the ZnO/DyVO4 nanocomposite had the best photocatalytic activity among the ZnO and DyVO4 nanoparticles in degrading tetracycline under visible light for 120 minutes. The results of the degradation of tetracycline ZnO/DyVO4, DyVO4, and ZnO were 94.34%, 81.56%, and 31.63%, respectively. For the photodegradation reaction of tetracycline using optimum mass 6 mg of ZnO/DyVO4 it follows a first-order rate kinetics model were 2,23 x 10-2 min-1."
