"Artikel ini membahas isu patologi sosial dan kekerasan seksual sebagai representasi praktik BDSM di film Fifty Shades of Grey 2015 dan Venus in Fur 2013 . Dengan analisis tekstual, artikel ini fokus menganalisis masalah seksualitas dan hubungan kekuasaan melalui karakter utama perempuan dari kedua film. Konsep yang digunakan adalah understanding via pathologizing oleh Weiss 2006 dan male gaze oleh Mulvey 1975 .Hasil analisis menunjukan kedua film memperkuat representasi dominan dari film-film BDSM sebelumnya ketika sifat patologis dan kekerasan seksual diromantisasikan, perizinan untuk melakukan praktik BDSM tidak diberikan secara sadar, hubungan kekuasaan bekerja dengan berbeda di dalam dan luar peran seksual, dan karakter wanita digambarkan secara sensual.

Mainstream media representation of BDSM is complex and often problematic, which needs to be continuously scientifically investigated. This article explores the themes of pathology and abuse in two films Fifty Shades of Grey 2015 and Venus in Fur 2013 . By doing a comparative textual analysis, the analysis discusses female sexualities and power relation between leading female characters, Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey 2015 and Vanda von Dunayev in Venus in Fur 2013. Weiss 2006 understanding via pathologizing and Mulvey rsquo s 1975 male gaze are the concepts used to understand how pathology is associated with BDSM practice and why females are depicted as sexual objects in these films.Research findings reveal that both films strengthen mainstream representation of BDSM where pathology and abuse are romanticized, the understanding of consent is problematic, power relation operates differently inside and outside the characters rsquo sexual role play and female characters are sexualized."

"ABSTRAKMakalah ini meneliti tentang hubungan kekuasaan pada serial telvisi Lucifer 2015 - di mana seorang karakter wanitanya lebih kuat dibandingkan dengan karakter utamanya yaitu sang iblis itu sendiri. Serial ini menunjukkan masyarakat Kristiani dan patriarki di mana Lucifer berusaha keras untuk memahami konsep baik dan buruk yang dikarenakan oleh kehadiran karakter wanita tersebut, yang bernama Chloe, di hidupnya. Dengan menggunakan konsep kekuasaan milik Michel Foucault pada Gordon, 1980 dan karya Barbara Welter tentang penggambaran wanita di masyarakat Kristiani, dan dengan menganalisis dialog yang terdapat pada serial ini, makalah ini bertujuan untuk menemukan hubungan kekuasaan antara kedua karakter utama tersebut. Makalah ini mengutamakan alas an kenapa sang karakter wanita muncul sebagai karakter yang lebih superior, dan bagaimana hubungan tersebut membentuk cara pandang Lucifer mengenai kebaikan dan keburukan yang ada di dunia ini.

ABSTRACTThis paper examines power relations in television series Lucifer 2015 - in which one female character is more powerful than the main character which is the devil himself. The series depicts a patriarchal, Christian society, where Lucifer struggles to understand what is good and evil because of the existence of a female character rsquo;s existence, named Chloe, in his life. Using Michel Foucault rsquo;s concept of power in Gordon, 1980 and Barbara Welter rsquo;s work about the depiction of women in Christian society, and through the analysis of the dialogues in this series, this article aims to discover the power relation between the two main characters. The paper puts forwards the reason why the female is emerging as the superior one, and how this relationship shapes Lucifer rsquo;s perspective about good and evil in the world. "

"Fahrenheit 451 merupakan sebuah novel yang ditulis oleh Ray Bradbury dan dipublikasi pada tahun 1953. Buku tersebut telah di adaptasi kedalam beberapa bentuk media lain, termasuk film, dan baik buku ataupun novel telah mengangkat banyak isu seperti pembakaran buku, sensor dan perbatasan pengetahuan. Fokus dari penulisan ini adalah untuk mengamati dua karakter, yakni Clarisse dan Mildred agar dapat melihat peran mereka diperlihatkan di dalam film-film, karena kedua film diproduksi di waktu yang berbeda yakni pada tahun 1966 dan tahun 2018. Meskipun diproduksi di dua era yang berbeda, film-film yang dibuat oleh Truffaut dan Bahrani memperlihatkan peran yang sama bagi kedua karakter. Penulis berpendapat bahwa penggambaran karakter dan juga tahun yang berbeda dalam adaptasi dapat memperlihatkan perbedaan dan perkembangan kedua karakter.

Fahrenheit 451 was written in 1953 by Ray Bradbury and had been adapted to different forms of media, including films. The focus of this paper is to look at two characters from the film (Clarisse and Mildred) to see how their characters are portrayed differently since they are from different eras. The paper chose Fahrenheit 451 as the source text and will look at the 2 film adaptations by François Troufaut (1966) and Ramin Bahrani (2018). Despite making film adaptations from the same text, both films by Truffaut and Bahrani have different ways of adapting their film and portraying Clarisse and Mildred. The author argued that different characterizations in the film and the respective year of the adaptation can signify the difference and the development of Clarisse and Mildred’s characters."

"Laut Bercerita lahir sebagai salah satu karya yang merespons rezim Orde Baru. Dengan aktivis sebagai tokoh utama, novel ini mengekspos pembaca terhadap dinamika aktivisme yang kompleks dan terduga, termasuk di dalamnya intensitas praktik kerja emosional yang dilakukan. Terlepas dari besarnya bentuk kerja emosional yang dipraktikan aktivis, isu ini masih kerap dikesampingkan dalam diskursus mengenai pergerakan sosial. Minimnya pengakuan dan perlindungan terhadap bentuk kerja emosional meletakkan aktivis dalam posisi yang rentan. Situasi ini secara khusus menjadi lebih berbahaya bagi aktivis perempuan. Melalui pembacaan kritis terhadap novel Laut Bercerita, penelitian ini berupaya mengidentifikasi jenis kerja emosional yang dilakukan oleh tokoh perempuan dalam novel tersebut. Proses identifikasi dapat membantu menentukan tingkat kemawasan publik terhadap kerja emosional, serta langkah konkret apa yang dapat dilakukan untuk memastikan perlindungannya di masa depan.

Laut Bercerita was born as one of the works responding to the New Order regime. With activists as the main characters, this novel exposed the reader to the complex and unpredictable dynamics of activism, including the intensity of emotional labor practices that are being carried out. Apart from the large forms of emotional labor practiced by activists, this issue is still often sidelined in discourses about social movements. The lack of recognition and protection against forms of emotional labor places activists in a vulnerable position. This situation is especially more dangerous for women activists. Through critical reading of the novel Laut Bercerita, this study seeks to identify the type of emotional labor carried out by the female characters in the novel. The identification process can help determine the public's level of awareness of emotional labor, as well as steps to realize what can be done to ensure its protection in the future."

"Thesis ini menganalisis perubahan yang ada di film adaptasi Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) beserta efek dari perubahan-perubahan tersebut terhadap penggambaran karakter perempuan ketika dibandingkan dengan teks sumber (2005). Penelitian ini akan menilai tingkat validitas opini para penggemar yang cenderung memihak novel dibandingkan dengan film adaptasinya. Dengan mengetahui hal ini, penonton dapat melihat bahwa berbeda dengan opini publik, keputusan akan perubahan yang ada di dalam film adaptasi Percy Jackson (2010) membuat representasi perempuan menjadi lebih kompleks. Dengan ini, penulis berharap penonton akan menganalisis film adaptasi lebih lanjut sebelum menetapkan pendapat dan memperlakukan adaptasi bukan hanya sebagai salinan dari teks sumber, tetapi sebagai adaptasi itu sendiri. Artikel ini menggunakan penilitian kualitatif, analisis textual, serta mise-en-scène untuk menganalisis data.

The focus of this study is to analyze alterations that are made in the movie adaptation Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) and the effect that it brings to the depiction of female characters when being compared to the source text, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2005). This study assesses the validity of fan preference for the novel over the movie. Knowing this will allow the audience to see that despite the popular belief, the decision to make changes in the movie adaptation create a more complex female representation. This article uses qualitative research, textual analysis, as well as mise-en-scène to analyze the data. The researcher suggests that audience will analyze movie adaptation further and treat adaptations as adaptations, not as mere copies of its original text."
