Salah satu upaya pembangunan ekonomi yang dilakukan oleh suatu negara adalah dengan melakukan industrialisasi. Perkembangan industri pada masa Orde Baru mengalami berbagai proses perubahan. Tergantung tokoh yang muncul dan keadaan ekonomi saat itu. Salah satu tokoh yang muncul dalam sejarah industrialisasi Orde Baru adalah Prof. Dr. Ing. H. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie atau biasa dipanggil Habibie. Tesis ini berupaya mendeskripsikan pemikiran Habibie di bidang ekonomi khususnya industri yang diiringi dengan realitas perkembangannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode sejarah. Dalam penelitian Habibienomics, terjadi perubahan orientasi industri Indonesia menuju industri berteknologi tinggi, khususnya pembuatan pesawat terbang pada era 90-an. Pro dan kontra terjadi sebagai tanggapan atas Habibienomics. Hingga puncaknya, Habibienomics mengalami stagnasi akibat krisis moneter 1997. Negara yang selama ini mendukung penuh proyek ambisius Habibie berbalik arah untuk menghentikan proyek tersebut. ......One of the economic development efforts undertaken by a country is industrialization. Industrial development during the New Order era underwent various processes of change. It depends on the figures that appear and the economic situation at that time. One of the figures who appeared in the history of New Order industrialization was Prof. Dr. Ing. H. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie or usually called Habibie. This thesis seeks to describe Habibie's thoughts in the field of economy, especially industry, accompanied by the reality of his development. The research method used is the historical method. In Habibienomics' research, there was a change in the orientation of Indonesian industry towards a high-tech industry, especially the manufacture of aircraft in the 90s. The pros and cons came about in response to Habibienomics. Until its peak, Habibienomics experienced stagnation due to the 1997 monetary crisis. The country which had so far fully supported Habibie's ambitious project turned its direction to stop the project.
