"Tingginya angka kecelakaan yang terjadi di Indonesia dalam beberapa tahun terakhir sebagian besar melibatkan pengendara sepeda motor. Kecelakaan yang terjadi di jalan raya antara lain disebabkan oleh kurangnya atensi terhadap hal-hal yang diamati disekitar (visual attention) yang dimiliki ketika mengendarai sepeda motor sehingga terjadi kesalahpahaman pengguna jalan bermotor dalam mengidentifikasi situasi berbahaya (hazard perception). Kepada 133 pengendara sepeda motor berusia 17-34 tahun (Mean usia = 21.56, SD = 2.36) diminta untuk mengisi kuesioner yang mengukur tentang kemampuan visual attention dan kemampuan hazard perception yang terdiri atas komponen hazard detection dan threat appraisal, yang diberikan secara daring.
Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara visual attention dan hazard detection maupun antara visual attention dan threat appraisal pada pengendara sepeda motor dewasa muda. Namun ditemukan bahwa adanya hubungan yang positif antara hazard detection dan threat appraisal. Analisis deskriptif menunjukkan kemampuan hazard detection yang cukup baik pada partisipan pengendara sepeda motor, namun kemampuan threat appraisal yang cenderung masih rendah. Implikasi dari temuan ini adalah diperlukannya sosialisasi untuk meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya kemampuan hazard perception.

For the past few years, a rising number of accidents in Indonesia involved a significant number of motorcyclists. Some of the accidents are caused by the motorcyclists lack of attention to the surrounding area when riding a motorcycle. Therefore, motorcyclists misinterpret a dangerous situation hazard perception. We asked 133 motorcyclists aged 17-34 (Mage = 21.56, SD = 2.36) to fill in an online questionnaire, which measured visual attention and hazard perception abilities. The hazard perception includes hazard detection and threat appraisal measurement.
The result of this study shows that there is no relationship between visual attention and hazard detection, also between visual attention and threat appraisal on young adult motorcyclists. However, we find a positive correlation between hazard detection and threat appraisal. Descriptive analyses show that the participants performed hazard detection quite well, but they indicated a low level of threat appraisal skill. The implication of this study is to encourage socialization to motorcyclists about the importance of hazard perception ability.

"Kecelakaan lalu lintas yang melibatkan pengendara sepeda motor di Indonesia didominasi oleh pengendara dewasa muda. Salah satu faktor penyebab kecelakaan dari sisi manusia adalah kemampuan untuk mempersepsi bahaya (hazard perception ability). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterkaitan antara visual spatial ability sebagai salah satu komponen kognitif yang berperan di dalam mengendara dan hazard perception ability. Penelitian ini melibatkan 130 pengendara sepeda motor berusia 17-34 tahun (Mean usia = 21.56, SD = 2.36). Partisipan diminta untuk mengisi alat ukur visual spatial ability yang terdiri atas tes card rotation untuk mengukur kemampuan spatial orientation, dan tes paper folding untuk mengukur kemampuan visualization, dan juga alat ukur hazard perception ability yang terdiri atas tes hazard detection, dan tes threat appraisal yang diberikan secara daring (dalam jaringan). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif antara komponen visual spatial ability dan hazard perception ability. Semakin tinggi kemampuan spatial orientation dan visualization pengendara sepeda motor, semakin tinggi kemampuan hazard detection dan threat appraisal yang dimiliki. Implikasi dari temuan ini adalah adanya peluang mengukur hazard perception ability pada mereka yang akan mengambil Surat Izin Mengemudi (SIM) dengan mengukur visual spatial ability jika pengukuran terhadap hazard perception ability tidak dapat dilaksanakan.

Young adult riders dominate traffic accidents that involved Indonesian motorcyclists. One of the human factors which can potentially cause an accident is hazard perception ability. This study aims to investigate the role of visual-spatial skill as one of the cognitive components, which plays a role in hazard perception ability while riding on the road. The participants of this study are 130 motorcyclists aged 17-34 years old (Mage = 21.56, SD = 2.36). The participants were asked to fill in visual-spatial ability measurement tools that consisted of rotation card test to measure spatial orientation ability, and paper folding test which measured visualization ability. Also, they were asked to fill in a hazard perception ability test that consisted of hazard detection test, and threat appraisal test. All tests were done online. The results of this study show that there is a positive relationship between visual spatial ability component and hazard perception ability. The higher the motorcyclists' spatial orientation and visualization skills, the higher the hazard detection and threat appraisal abilities. The implication of these findings is the opportunity to measure hazard perception ability on driving license test takers by measuring visual-spatial skill if hazard perception ability measurement cannot be conducted.

"Salah satu faktor utama penyebab kecelakaan lalu lintas adalah hazard perception, sementara hal yang dapat mempengaruhi hazard perception adalah subjective driving skill. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji peran subjective driving skill pada hazard perception pada pengendara sepeda motor usia muda. Penelitian dengan pendekatan non-eksperimental dilakukan bersama 155 pengendara sepeda motor berusia 17-29 tahun Partisipan diminta untuk menonton video yang terdiri atas 8 skenario jalan raya yang berisi objek hazard, dan mengidentifikasi munculnya hazard serta mengevaluasi seberapa bahaya objek hazard pada setiap skenario. Setelah selesai, partisipan diminta untuk mengisi kuesioner subjective driving skill. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa subjective driving skill memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam mengurangi kemampuan pengendara dalam mendeteksi bahaya  (hazard detection)dan kemampuan evaluasi pengendara terhadap bahaya yang muncul (threat appraisal (β=-.162, p < .05; β=-.246, p < .05). Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat menjadi landasan informasi bagi pembaca untuk tetap waspada terhadap bahaya lalu lintas, karena walaupun seseorang merasa bahwa ia mampu mengendalikan bahaya dan memiliki kemampuan berkendara yang diatas rata-rata, bukan berarti hal tersebut membuat seorang pengendara akan secara mutlak terhindar dari bahaya.

The essesntial factor of accidents is hazard perception, while one of the things that can affect hazard perception are subjective driving skills. This study aims to examine the role of subjective driving skills in hazard perception in young motorcycle riders. With non-experimental approach, this research includes 155 motorbike riders aged 17-29 years. Participants were asked to watch a video consisting of 8 scenarios containing hazards objects and detect the appearance of hazard and evaluate how dangerous the hazard objects are in each scenario. After completion, participants were asked to fill out the subjective driving skill questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that subjective driving skill carry out a significant role in reducing the ability of motorists to detect haszards and the capability of motorists to evaluate the hazards that arise (β=-.162, p < .05; β=-.246, p < .05). The results of this study can be a cornerstone of information for readers to remain viginant of traffic hazards, because even if someone feels he is able to control the dancger and have the ability to drive above average, it does not mean it makes rider will absolutely avoid danger.

"Perlindungan pekerja konstruksi dari kecelakaan kerja dan penyakit akibat kerja adalah merupakan suatu tantangan besar dalam bidang K3. Data mengenai jumlah pekerja dan kecelakaan yang diungkapkan oleh NIOSH menunjukkan betapa pentingnya memahami karakter para pekerja konstruksi untuk melakukan pencegahan kecelakaan (lihat halaman 2).
Tesis ini meneliti hubungan faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh pada persepsi pekerja. Faktor-faktor yang diteliti mencakup masa kerja, asal daerah, tempat tinggal, motivasi kerja, bidang keahlian dan pelatihan K3.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 3 dari 6 faktor yang diteliti mempengaruhi persepsi pekerja, yakni bidang keahlian, asal daerah dan pelatihan K. Dan kalau dilihat lebih jauh, pengaruh faktor ekstemal iebih dominan dibandingkan faktor internal, sehingga dalam penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa persepsi pekerja konstruksi terhadap bahaya merupakan hal yang dapat diintervensi (intervened able).

Construction worker protection from an accident and occupational illness is a big challenge in the field of occupational safety and health. NIOSH was reporting a set of data regarding number of construction worker and accidents. This prove how important to understand the construction workers characteristic in order to prevent the accident (see detail on page 2).
In this Thesis, writer was doing a research to find out the relationship between a set of factors with the worker's perception. Those factors are working experience, origin background, home stay, work motivation, expertise and safety training.
The result of this research show that 3 out of 6 factors are significantly influencing worker perception, which are expertise, -origin background and safety training. If we look deeper, external factors are most likely influencing more than internal factors, so that could be concluded that the worker perception is something intervened able.

"A median is required for a two-way road to separate the opposite traffic and prevent head-on collisions. In road capacity calculation, the median factor contributes in terms of its existence regardless of the difference in median types. Road capacity is determined by a number of geometric factors such as road types, width of carriageway, shoulder/curb characteristics, and the presence/absence of medians, etc. The contributions of these factors are represented by the coefficients in the capacity calculations. Despite the different types of medians, the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (IHCM) does not adopt different coefficients to accommodate the effects in the capacity. The aim of this study is to obtain an adjustment factor for road capacity calculation based on median types. The method of this study adopts video recordings of real traffic moving along three different types of medians: raised medians, fenced medians, and line medians. As it is assumed that the effects of different median types are expressed in the vehicles’ safety distances from medians, the capacity of the road will also vary by types of medians. The adjustment coefficients for roads with raised medians, fenced medians, and line medians obtained are: 0.79, 0.78, and 0.81, respectively. The results of this study confirm that in addition to the presence of the medians, the types should essentially be considered in calculating the road capacity. The result of this study will contribute to the enrichment of the road capacity calculation in the IHCM."
