Dalam tesis ini dibutuhkan kajian filsafat mengenai etika untuk mencari jalan keluar dari permasalahan lingkungan hidup yang didasarkan pada pemikiran beberapa tokoh-tokoh Lingkungan Hidup dan beberapa filsuf yang terkenal lainnya. Sehubungan dengan aspek filosofis, perlu diangkat pandangan para filsuf yang akan menjelaskan mengenai hakekat eksistensi manusia dalam menangani relasi manusia dengan alam demi kelanjutan kehidupan generasi selanjutnya. Pada hakekatnya manusia terikat kepada kehidupan di dunia sekitarnya, karena hanya manusialah yang bereksistensi dan manusialah yang mempunyai kelebihan akal budi yang memahami apa arti kehidupan. Oleh karena itu pandangan-pandangan itu dipergunakan dengan sebaik-baiknya demi keselamatan manusia dalam mengelola alam lingkungan untuk mempertahankan hidupnya pada masa-masa yang akan datang."
