"Jurnal ini membahas lukisan Isaac lazarus Israëls, pelukis Belanda di tahun 1880-an. Di Belanda ia mendapat nama sebagai pelukis impresionistik. Ia pernah datang ke Hindia-Belanda pada tahun 1920-an dan melukis mengenai Hindia-Belanda. Penulis ingin melihat bagaimana kacamata Belanda melihat Hindia-Belanda yang dipresentasikan melalui karyanya. Beberapa karya dianalisis melalui unsur-unsur pembangun lukisan. Dari analisis tenyata pandangan Isaac Israëls berbeda ketika ia melihat Belanda dan Hindia-Belanda. Hal itu terjadi karena kedekatan emosional Isaac Israëls terhadap subjek yang dilukisnya. Meskipun dalam melukis keduanya, ia tetap setia pada aliran impresionisme.

This journal discusses about paintings made by Isaac Lazarus Israëls, an impressionistic painter from the Netherlands in the 1880s. He came to the Netherlands East Indies in the 1920s and made some paintings there. The author aim is to look how people of the Netherlands see the Netherlands East Indies which reflected from his paintings. Some of his works will be analyzed through the painting elements. The result shows that there are some differences on how he see the Netherlands and the Netherlands East Indies. This is happening because of Isaac?s closeness toward the subject that he painted. However, the impressionism style still visible in both of his paintings."

"Vincent van Gogh, seorang pelukis terkenal dari Zundert, Belanda merupakan salah satu pelukis yang menghasilkan berbagai karya lukis termahal di dunia. Aliran lukisan van Gogh yaitu post-impresionisme membuat setiap karyanya sangat berkesan karena ungkapan perasaan dituangkan di dalam lukisannya. Salah satu lukisan fenomenalnya berjudul, Portret van Dr. Gachet 1890 . Lukisan ini diteliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan bantuan teori Mimesis dari Plato dan teori warna dari Brewster. Foto lukisan diamati sehingga karakteristik aliran post-impresionisme di dalam lukisan Portret van Dr. Gachet 1890 dapat terbaca. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa lukisan ini merupakan lukisan Post- Impresionisme. Perbedaan kedua lukisan tersebut terletak pada pemilihan warna dan abstraksi di dalam masing-masing lukisan. Lukisan tersebut juga identik dengan pengalaman pribadi van Gogh, yang menggunakan perasaan di setiap karyanya.

Vincent van Gogh, a famous painter from Zundert, Netherlands is one of the most expensive painters in the world. The flow of van Gogh 39;s painting of post-impressionism makes each of his works very memorable because of the expression of feelings poured in his paintings. One of his phenomenal paintings is entitled, Portret van Dr. Gachet 1890 . This painting is examined using qualitative research methods and assisted by the Mimesis theory of Plato and the color theory of Brewster. Photographs of the paintings were observed so that the characteristics of post-impressionism flow in Portret van Dr.Gachet 1890 can be recognized. The result of this research show that this painting is a Post-Impressionism painting. The difference between the two paintings lies in the selection of colors and abstractions within each painting. The painting is also similar with Van Gogh 39;s personal experience, which uses feelings in each of his works."
