Written as a concise, clinical guide to major interventional procedures impacting upon women’s health, Women’s health in interventional radiology focuses on a wide range of vascular and non-vascular interventions commonly performed in daily practice, including those related to the pelvis, fallopian tube, spine, and lower extremities. Chapters provide key clinical background information on each intervention, including pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, basic anatomy, and imaging features, before moving on to step-by-step explanations of the techniques. Accompanied by high-quality illustrations and images throughout, chapters also include technical hints, pearls, and pitfalls, postoperative care guidelines, outcomes data, and complications.

La sophistication des techniques de cathétérisme et des agents d'embolisation amenés par voie endovasculaire a contribué à un essor considérable des techniques d'occlusion endovasculaire, tant au niveau des troncs artériels et veineux qu'au niveau du lit capillaire parenchymateux distal. Thérapeutiques mini-invasives, embolisation et chimioembolisation par voie endovasculaire constituent désormais des alternatives thérapeutiques très intéressantes, à titre palliatif ou curatif, en oncologie, en traumatologie, pour des pathologies fonctionnelles ou pour la prise en charge de complications post-opératoires. Des connaissances approfondies très détaillées sont disponibles dans des traités exhaustifs destinés aux spécialistes. L’ambition des auteurs est plutôt ici de fournir un manuel pour les jeunes radiologues vasculaires en formation, et un aide-mémoire pour les radiologues vasculaires en activité, en présentant pour chaque indication une approche synthétique de la réalisation technique de l'acte, de sa place, et des résultats attendus. La première partie de ce livre concerne la « boite à outils » des matériaux et techniques utilisés, et les bases physiopathologiques de l'embolisation, la seconde partie envisage de façon analytique les principales situations et stratégies anatomo-cliniques. Complet et didactique, il devrait figurer à portée de main des radiologues interventionnels et des cliniciens dans les salles de staffs multidisciplinaires et dans les salles d'angiographie.

Abstrak :
As it is quick, inexpensive, and non-invasive, ultrasound is the modality of choice for guidance of interventional procedures in the soft tissues. Furthermore, the rising mean age of the general population is being accompanied by increasing demand among patients for minimally invasive procedures to treat painful chronic and degenerative syndromes of the musculoskeletal system. This handbook is a clear, practical guide to ultrasound-guided minimally invasive treatments of musculoskeletal pain in the upper limb. Each chapter is clearly structured, with brief but comprehensive descriptions of the disease to be treated and of the materials and drugs needed. High-quality images and easy-to-follow schemes explain the best approach in each situation, and practical tips and tricks of value in daily clinical routine are provided.

Abstrak :
This book provides a thorough yet succinct and accessible review of the latest knowledge in the field of endovascular surgery. All chapters have been updated to reflect the advances that have occurred during the past five years, and new chapters are included on carotid artery stenting and day case intervention. The chapter on lower limb veno-occlusive disease has been expanded to include management of deep venous thrombosis. Among the other topics considered are the endovascular treatment options in different arterial territories, aneurysm repair techniques, and the management of venous stenosis and venous insufficiency. The aim throughout is to tackle issues of evidence-based practice in order to assist trainees and experienced practitioners in making and implementing treatment decisions.

Abstrak :
The book begins with a synopsis of the fundamentals aspects of fluid mechanics to give the reader the essential background to address the proceeding chapters. Then the fundamental elements of vortex dynamics will be discussed, explaining the conditions for their formation and the rules governing their dynamics. The main equations are accompanied by mathematical models. Cardiovascular vortex formation is first analyzed in physiological, healthy conditions in the heart chambers and in the large arterial vessels. The analysis is initially presented with an intuitive appeal grounded on the physical phenomena and a focus on its clinical significance.In the proceeding chapters, the knowledge gained from either clinical or basic science literature will be discussed. The corresponding mathematical elements will finally be presented to ensure the adequate diligence. The proceeding chapters ensue to the analysis of pathological conditions, when the reader may have developed the ability to recognize normal from abnormal vortex formation phenomenon. Pathological vortex formation represents vortices that develop at sites where normally laminar flow should exist, e.g. stenosis and aneurisms. This analysis naturally leads to the interaction of vortices due to the surgical procedures with respect to prediction of changes in vortex formation. The existing techniques, from medical imaging to numerical simulations, to explore vortex flows in the cardiovascular systems will also be described.

This book is the first manuscript dedicated entirely to Desmoid Tumors. Written by prominent clinicians, researchers and advocacy group experts, patients and professionals alike will find this to be a comprehensive review. Clinical presentation, imaging guidelines and treatment paradigms are highlighted. Both the sporadic and heredity forms (Familial Adenomatous Polyposis) will be discussed. A thorough discussion on the unique issues in children with DT is included.
