Abstrak :
Fokus dari tesis ini adalah menganalisa kerjasama Indonesia - Korea Selatan dalam mengembangkan pesawat tempur generasi 4.5 KAI KF-X / IF-X bila membandingkannya dengan fenomena Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) yang jamak terjadi di kawasan, dan dengan tingkat kapabilitas pertahanan kedua negara dalam menyukseskan program tersebut. Penulisan menggunakan teori dan/atau konsep stratatifikasi, RMA, dan beberapa konsep penunjang lain seperti inovasi militer, difusi teknologi militer, dan strategi integratif. Penelitaian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, dan menjabarkan dengan komprehensif tinjauan historis dari kerjasama Indonesia - Korea Selatan; perkembangan, kajian, dan tingkatan industri pertahanan kedua negara; spesifikasi teknis KAI KF-X / IFX; serta Doktrin dan Postur angkatan bersenjata. Temuan yang didapatkan dari penelitian adalah bahwasanya pesawat tempur KAI KF-X / IF-X ini tidak mempengaruhi RMA Indonesia karena pesawat tempur tersebut akan memenuhi tuntutan operasional TNI AU di masa mendatang dan tidak akan menyebabkan perubahan signifikan terhadap Doktrin maupun Postur TNI. Yang terjadi adalah evolution in military affair, bukan RMA. ......This thesis is concentrated in analyzing the cooperation between Indonesia - South Korea in the development of a 4.5 generation jet fighter KAI KF-X / IF-X by comparing it to the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) phenomena that is raging in the region, and with the defense capability of the two countries. The theories and/or concepts used in the writing of this thesis are stratification, RMA, and a few other concepts such as military innovation, technology diffusion, and integrative strategy. The writings that are used are within the qualitative methods, that describes comprehensively the historical background of the Indonesian - South Korean relations; the level of both defense industries; technical specification of the KAI KF-X / IF-X; and the Doctrine of the armed forces. The findings of this research concludes by acknowledging that the KAI KF-X / IF-X jet fighter will not start nor alter Indonesia?s RMA, because the planes will be align with the future operational requirements of the Indonesian air force. Neither does the Doctrine will be affected. Thus, what is happening is not an RMA, rather the evolution in military affair.

Tujuan dari thesis ini adalah untuk memetakan aktifitas diplomasi penahanan Indonesia dalam kurun waktu 2003 hingga 2008. Hal ini ditujukan untuk mengidentifikasi karakter dan keluaran diplomasi pertahanan Indonesia. Pemetaan tersebut dilakukan dengan dibimbing oleh pendekatan diplomasi pertahanan yang dikembangkan secara komprehensif dengan memadukan tiga terma utama yaitu diplomacy, defense, dan development yang menghasilkan tiga kategori utama diplomasi pertahanan yaitu defense diplomacy for CBM, defense diplomacy for defense capabilities, dan defense diplomacy for industry. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode case study dengan melihat fenomena diplomasi pertahanan yang dilakukan oleh Indonesia, serta dengan membentuk dataset mengenai aktifitas diplomasi pertahanan Indonesia. Penelitian ini telah membuktikan bahwa aktifitas diplomasi pertahanan yang dilakukan Indonesia dalam kurun waktu 2003 hingga 2008 didominasi oleh karakter defense diplomacy for CBM, serta keluaran yang dihasilkan adalah peningkatan stabilitas keamanan regional. ......The aim of this thesis is mapping Indonesia defense diplomacy activities diiring 2003 until 2008. This objective is intended to identify the character and output of Indonesia defense diplomacy. In order to gain this objective the analysis guided by defense diplomacy approach that developed comprehensively which combining three main tenns of defense diplomacy which is diplomacy, defense, and development that upshot three main categoiy of defense diplomacy consist of defense diplomacy for CBM, defense diplomacy for defense capabilities, and defense diplomacy for industiy. This thesis conducted by case study methods that oversee the phenomena of Indonesia defense diplomacy, and also creating dataset about Indonesia defense diplomacy activities. This thesis has proven that the activities of Indonesia defense diplomacy dominated by defense diplomacy for CBM character, and the output of these activities in the increasing of regional security stability.

Abstrak :
Tujuan penulisan tesis ini adalah untuk menggambarkan kegiatan diplomasi pertahanan yang dilakukan Indonesia terhadap Korea Selatan selama kurun waktu empat tahun atau secara spesifik pada periode 2006 hingga 2009. Penggambaran kegiatan diplomasi pertahanan tersebut dianalisis melalui pendekatan konsep diplomasi pertahanan yang mengembangkan tiga karakter utama, yaitu defense diplomacy for confidence building measure, defense diplomacy for defense capability dan defense diplomacy for defense industry. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menyajikan data mengenai kegiatan diplomasi pertahanan Indonesia terhadap Korea Selatan dan mengelompokkannya ke dalam tiga konsep diplomasi pertahanan di atas. Penelitian ini telah membuktikan bahwa kegiatan diplomasi pertahanan Indonesia terhadap Korea Selatan semakin mempererat hubungan pertahanan kedua negara terutama setelah ditandatanganinya Joint Declaration between the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Korea on Strategic Partnership to Promote Friendship and Cooperation in the 21st Century.

The aim of this thesis is describing Indonesia defense diplomacy activities towards South Korea within four years, especially in 2006 until 2009 period. The defense diplomacy description analyzed by defense diplomacy concept which is developing three main characteristics such as defense diplomacy for confidence building measure, defense diplomacy for defense capability and defense diplomacy for defense industry. This thesis conducted by serving data that contain Indonesia defense diplomacy activities towards South Korea and classifying them to the defense diplomacy concept above. This thesis proves, that the activities of Indonesia defense diplomacy towards South Korea, has tighten the relationship of both of the two countries especially after the signing of the Joint Declaration between the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Korea on Strategic Partnership to Promote Friendship and Cooperation in the 21st Century.
