Tesis ini membahas mengenai visualisasi kasus korupsi dalam wadah kartun editorial, yang mengambil studi kasus harian Indonesia Raya pada masa awal Orde Baru dengan rentang waktu pada tahun 1968 sampai dengan tahun 1974. Harian Indonesia Raya sendiri adalah harian yang terbit pada dua masa periode, yakni pada masa Demokrasi Terpimpin dan awal Orde Baru. Harian ini dipimpin oleh Mochtar Lubis dan merupakan salah satu harian yang terbit kembali pada masa awal Orde Baru, selain harian Pedoman dan Nusantara.

Dalam perjalanan sejarah pers pada masa awal Orde Baru, kartun editorial mempunyai peranan penting sebagai media kontrol sosial politik, terutama dalam fungsinya dalam menjadi semacam wahana refleksi ketika ketidakberasan sedang terjadi, khususnya terhadap kasus-kasus korupsi yang terjadi pada masa awal Orde Baru yang menggejala pada saat itu. Sebagai tajuk rencana dalam bentuk visual, kartun editorial tentunya juga mencerminkan kebijakan dan garis politik media yang memuatnya.

Melalui penelitian ini dapat terlihat bagaimana perkembangan kartun editorial yang dimuat harian Indonesia Raya dalam melakukan visualisasi terhadap kasus korupsi pada masa awal Orde Baru sampai dengan Peristiwa Malari 1974 yang kemudian menjadi akhir riwayat dari surat kabar tersebut. Melalui simbiosis yang ada, yakni persepsi harian Indonesia Raya mengenai korupsi dalam kartun editorial yang dimuat, sikap pemerintah Orde Baru pada saat itu, dan peristiwa Malari, kesemuanya merupakan satuan benang merah yang pada akhirnya menjadi pembentuk interpretasi dari suatu peristiwa yang ada di dalam sejarah tanah air.

ABSTRACT
This thesis intends to discuss the visualization of corruption cases through editorial cartoons receptacle, which is takes a case study Indonesia Raya daily in the early years of the New Order with the time range of 1968 to 1974. Daily Indonesia Raya itself is a daily newspaper published in the two time periods, ie, the Guided Democracy era and the beginning of the New Order. This Daily is being led by Mochtar Lubis and was one daily newspaper published back in the early days of the New Order, in addition to daily Pedoman and the Nusantara

In the history of the press in the early years of the New Order, editorial cartoons have an important role as a medium of social control politics, especially in its function of being a sort of means of reflection when the irregularities was happening, notably on cases of corruption that occurred in the early years of the New Order were implicated in at that time. As an editorial in the form of visual, editorial cartoons of course also reflect the policy and political line of the media on which it appears.

Through this research, it can be seen how the development of daily Indonesia Raya editorial cartoon published in the visualizing the corruption case in the early years of the New Order until the events Malari 1974 then be the end of the newspaper. Through the existing symbiosis, which is sense of daily Indonesia Raya on corruption in the editorial cartoon that was published, the attitude of the New Order government at the time, and events Malari, all of which are units of red thread that eventually became forming the interpretation of an event in the history of this country.
