ABSTRACT
Microalgae-based biodiesel is an alternative energy source sufficient potential for microalgae cells have a lipid that can be further processed into biodiesel fuel. Chlorella vulgaris has a lipid content of 14% -22%. This microalgae lipids extracted using Soxhlet with hexane solvent green Microalgae have the ability to fixate CO2 through photosynthesis reaction with the aid of light energy. In this study, In this study, lipid microalgae were synthesis with two methods, the first do esterification with methanol and acid catalyst (H2SO4) at 55oC for 1 hour. Then followed by transesterification with methanol and alkaline catalyst (KOH) at 55oC for 1 hour, these conditions produce biodiesel at 76.43%. The second method directly performed transesterification with methanol and acid catalyst at a temperature of 90oC for 40 minutes, 85.5% of biodiesel produced. The second method of synthesis of biodiesel from the content of palmitic methyl ester of the most dominant."

One source of alternative that can be used as fuel oil is microalgae Nannochloropsis sp which turns have the potential of food as a vegetable oil. Characterization of microalgae to monitoring the growth of cells and knowing the number of lipids contained in it, respectively the use of a capacitor plate parallel and ultrasonic cleaner. The measurement of the number of cells using algae capacitor plate parallel as an alternative instrument coalition cells were then compared with the spectrophotometer uv-vis and counting chamber to get a valid calculation. While the extraction of microalgae used a simple cleaning ultrasonic 48khz with a frequency. Measurements using a capacitor considered valid because a curve inflation figure comparable to cell number.
