ABSTRACTThis book is a collection of papers in memory of Gu Chaohao on the subjects of Differential Geometry, Partial Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics that Gu Chaohao made great contributions to with all his intelligence during his lifetime. All contributors to this book are close friends, colleagues and students of Gu Chaohao. They are all excellent experts among whom there are 9 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. "Modularity merupakan sebuah ide penyederhanaan sistem yang kompleks melalui pengorganisasian bagian (parts) menjadi komponen standar. Penerapan modularity tidak lagi hanya terkait efisiensi yang mendukung produksi massal, namun dapat memberikan kelebihan dalam beberapa aspek lain dalam arsitektur, antara lain adalah aspek keberlanjutan. Terkait keberlanjutan, modularity salah satunya diterapkan dalam mendukung salah satu strategi untuk meminimalisir buangan yakni Design for Disassembly (DfD). Dengan ide systematic disassembly dari DfD, proses disassembly dapat dilakukan lebih terstruktur sehingga kualitas material dapat terjaga untuk kemudian didaur ulang atau digunakan kembali. Dalam DfD, modularity berperan memberikan kemudahan bongkar pasang hingga penggunaan kembali. Penerapan modularity dalam konteks DfD memiliki beberapa kriteria berupa pemisahan layer dan penggunaan sambungan yang mudah dipisahkan. Dalam DfD ketiga hal ini perlu diterapkan bersama sama karena pada dasarnya saling berkorelasi dalam mendukung ide utama DfD. Kriteria inilah yang membedakan bentuk penerapan modularity dalam konteks DfD dengan penerapan modularity pada arsitektur modern.

Modularity is an idea of decomposing complex systems by organizing parts into standard components. The application of modularity is no longer only related to the efficiency that supports mass production also, its contribution to several aspects of architecture including sustainability. Regarding sustainability, modularity is applied in a strategy to minimize waste, namely Design for Disassembly (DfD). With the idea of systematic disassembly in DfD, disassembly process can be carried out more structured so that the quality of the materials can be improved before being recycled of reused. Modularity in the context of DfD has several criteria; building layer and separable connection. In DfD, these three aspects need to be applied together because they are intercorrelated in supporting the main ideas of DfD. These criteria determine the form of modularity in the context of DfD with its implementation in modern architecture."

"Karena peningkatan yang luar biasa dari kemampuan produksi dan globalisasi ekonomi, lingkungan manufaktur saat ini semakin bergejolak dan tidak dapat ditebak. Lingkungan manufaktur memiliki dampak yang besar pada kinerja sistem manufaktur. Hal ini menimbulkan sebuah fenomena yang dikenal sebagai Mass Customization. Dengan adanya fenomena ini diperlukan sebuah sistem manufaktur yang dapat dengan cepat dan ekonomis menyesuaikan fungsi dan kapasitasnya dengan perubahan permintaan yang ada di pasar. Hal ini dapat dipenuhi oleh Reconfigurable Manufacturing System yang didukung oleh Reconfigurable Machine Tools yang memiliki enam karakteristik yaitu modularity, scalability, integrability, customization, convertibility, dan diagnosability. Sebagai tulang punggung dari RMS, RMT harus memiliki keenam karakteristik tersebut. Untuk memastikan desain RMT memiliki enam karakteristik tersebut pada penelitian ini dilakukan perancangan Framewrok untuk proses desain RMT.

The tremendous increase of the production capacity and economic globalization, the current manufacturing environment is increasingly volatile and cannot be guessed. The manufacturing environment has a major impact on the performance of the manufacturing system. This gives rise to a phenomenon known as Mass Customization. The existence of this phenomenon required a manufacturing system that can be quickly and economically adjusted in functions and capacity according to a change in the market. This can be met by a Reconfigurable Manufacturing System that is powered by Reconfigurable Machine Tools, which have six characteristics: modularity, integrability, customization, scalability, convertibility, and diagnosability. As the backbone of the RMS, the RMT must have such six characteristics. To ensure that the design of the RMT has six characteristics, this research is designing a Framewrok for RMT design process."
