"ABSTRAKTesis ini membahas penerapan konsep museologi baru dan museum sejarah diMuseum Kebangkitan Nasional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bersifatdeskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Tujuan penelitian iniadalah menjadikan Museum Kebangkitan Nasional sebagai museum sejarah idealdan merumuskan konsep komunikasi yang tepat untuk memudahkan prosespenyampaian pesan. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengidentifikasikan bahwa MuseumKebangkitan Nasional merupakan museum sejarah yang dalam pengelolaannyabelum menggunakan konsep museologi baru, karena belum menerapkan konsepkomunikasi timbal balik.

ABSTRACTThe object of this research was to discuss the application of the new museologyand the historical museum concepts. This research is a descriptive study whichused qualitative approach. The aim of the study is to perform ?NationalAwakening Museum? as the ideal historical museum and formulate theappropriate communication concept to facilitate the process of deliveringmessages. The result of the research identified that National Awakening Museumis a historical museum which its management has not used the new museologyconcept, due to the fact of lacking the using of reciprocal communication concept."

"Akhir Pekan di Museum Nasional Indonesia adalah program publik Museum Nasional Indonesia, sejak 2013. Program menghidupkan satu atau beberapa koleksi dalam pertunjukan teater. Meski telah dilakukan sejak lama, tapi kajian mengenai teater museum nyaris tak tersedia di Indonesia. Tesis ini membahas dinamika penerapan teater museum di dalam program tersebut dan diharapkan bisa mengisi kekosongan kajian tersebut. Observasi hampir empat tahun, wawancara dengan pengelola program, juga pendekatan hermeneutika terhadap naskah-naskah lakon dilakukan, termasuk memeriksa aneka dokumen dan media publikasi. Hasilnya, teater museum tidak cuma bisa digunakan untuk memediasi nilai dan konteks masa lalu koleksi untuk publik masa kini yang cocok dengan pendekatan Museologi Baru dan Museum Konstruktivis (Hein, 1998, 2004) tapi bisa juga untuk menghadapi problem mutakhir dan mengkonstruksi identitas nasional kelak. Pendekatan ini menawarkan fleksibilitas skala dan bentuk yang dapat disesuaikan dengan situasi museum. Untuk membangun keterlibatan penonton dengan koleksi pertunjukan, program menggunakan humor dan tragedi; ramuan fakta-fakta yang menerbitkan ketercengangan; serta dialog karakter-karakter yang berasal dari orang kecil, selain nama besar Teater Koma. Wahana eksplorasi baik sebelum maupun setelah pertunjukan juga disediakan untuk menciptakan dampak lebih panjang. Riset menjadi penting, bukan hanya untuk membangun cerita tapi juga untuk menjawab kritik yang mempertanyakan otentisitas dan otoritas di dalam penafsiran teater museum.

Weekend at Museum Nasional Indonesia is a public program of the Museum Nasional Indonesia, held since 2013. The program brings collections into theatrical performances. As the theater museum is a common practice, the study of museum theater is barely available in Indonesia. This thesis discusses the dynamics of museum theater in the program and is expected to fill academics gaps. A four years observations, interviews with program producer, and hermeneutic approach to play scripts were carried out, including examining various documents and publications. Not only it can be used to bring meaning and the context of collections for the present-day audiences which is compatible with the New Museology and Constructivist Museum (Hein, 1998, 2004) museum theater can also use to deal with current challenges and constructs national identity. This approach offers flexibility in scale and form that can be adaptive to museums. While the prominent name of Teater Koma attracts visitors, the program uses humor and tragedy; hidden facts to sparks provocation; dialogues between characters derived from ordinary people to build audience engagement. The program also provides mediums, allowing audiences to explore beyond the museum and creating lasting impact. Research, not only to build stories, is essential to response criticism arose regarding the authenticity and authority of the museum theaters interpretation."

"Tesis ini membahas tentang konsep ekshibisi sebagai fungsi utama dalam Science Center sebagai salah satu sarana edukasi mengenai sains dan teknologi kepada masyarakat dan utamanya generasi muda. Lokasi penelitian adalah Pusat Peragaan Iptek (PP-IPTEK) yang bertempat di kawasan wisata Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Analisis penelitian ini ditinjau dari sudut pandang teori museologi baru, Science Center dan pendidikan museum.Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa PP-IPTEK sejak awal pendiriannya sudah memfokuskan diri pada edukasi generasi muda dan masyarakatnya mengenai sains dan teknologi melalui aktivitas yang bersifat interaktif. Namun demikian, ekshibisi PP-IPTEK masih belum sepenuhnya menggunakan konsep Science Center dan museologi baru secara utuh. Masih ditemukan beberapa kelemahan dari segi visi-misi, struktur organisasi, kuratorial, tema ekshibisi, interaktifitas ekshibisi, informasi pameran, validasi ekshibisi dan sarana yang bersifat pendidikan lainnya. Hasil analisis tersebut digunakan untuk memperbaiki dan mengembangkan konsep ekshibisi PP-IPTEK sebagai sebuah Science Center.

This thesis discusses the concept of exhibitions as a major function in the Science Center. Exhibitions are one of the main tools for science and technology education for the community and particularly the younger generation. The research location is Pusat Peragaan Iptek (PP-IPTEK) which is located in the tourist area of ​​Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). This research is a qualitative descriptive study. This study analyzes exhibitions from three theoretical approaches: new museology, science center museum education.The results show that since its establishment, PP-IPTEK has been focused on the education of young generation and the community concerning science and technology through interactive activities. Nevertheless, PP-IPTEK exhibitions are still not fully using the concept of the science center and new museology as well. There are some weaknesses were found in terms of vision, mission, organizational structure, curatorial, exhibition themes, interactivity of exhibitions, exhibition information, exhibition validation and other education tools. The results and analysis are used to improve and develop exhibition concept of PP-IPTEK as a science center."
