"Dalam industri pengolahan minyak (Refinery), proses peningkatan angka oktan dari fraksi naphtha dilakukan di Unit Naphtha Reforming. Unit Naphtha Reforming (NRU) PT X memiliki spesifikasi produk gas hidrogen dengan kemurnian minimum 93,5%. Tingginya kemurnian produk gas hidrogen berkorelasi dengan naiknya yield reformat dan LPG dimana produk utama Unit Naphtha Reforming adalah reformat (HOMC). Penelitian ini mengevaluasi lima skema recovery yaitu recovery kontak satu tahap, teknologi kontak dua tahap, dan teknologi deep cooling menggunakan chiller juga akan diujikan konfigurasi tanpa teknologi recovery. Pengujian dilakukan dengan membandingkan produk yang dihasilkan dan perhitungan keekonomian teknologi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa Skema 5 (Skema 2 dengan kondisi operasi tekanan kontak 40 kg/cm2g dan suhu kontak 0 oC) menghasilkan spesifikasi produk yang sesuai dan nilai keekonomian yang paling baik dengan nilai IRR 12%, NPV 336,2 MUSD dan POT 12,9 tahun (POT gross 1,07 tahun). Sensitifitas Skema 5 terhadap harga umpan menunjukkan bahwa pada kenaikan harga umpan lebih dari 3% tidak lagi menguntungkan karena IRR-nya telah menyentuh hurdle rate dan NPV-nya negatif.

In the oil processing industry (Refinery), the process of increasing the octane number of the naphtha fraction is carried out at Naphtha Reforming Unit. PT X Naphtha Reforming Unit (NRU) has a hydrogen gas product specification with minimum purity of 93.5%-mol. The high purity of the hydrogen gas product correlates with the increase in yield of reformate and LPG where the main product of the NRU is reformate (HOMC). This study evaluates five recovery schemes, namely single-stage contact recovery, two-stage contact technology, and deep cooling technology using a chiller. The configuration without recovery technology will also be evaluated. Evaluation was done by comparing the product results and calculating the economics of technology. The results show that scheme five (scheme two with operating conditions in the recontact section pressure of 40 kg/cm2g and temperature of 0 oC) produces the appropriate product specifications and the best economic value with IRR 12%, NPV 336.2 MUSD and POT 12.9 years (gross POT 1.07 years). The sensitivity of Scheme five to the feed price shows that an increase in the feed price of more than 3% is no longer profitable because the IRR has touched the hurdle rate and the NPV is negative."

"In this research, a layered-recurrent artificial neural network (ANN) using the back-propagation method was developed for simulation of a fixed-bed industrial catalytic reforming unit called Platformer. Ninety-seven data points were gathered from the industrial catalytic naphtha reforming plant during the complete life cycle of the catalytic bed (about 919 days). Ultimately, 80% of them were selected as past horizontal data sets, and the others were selected as future horizontal ones. After training, testing, and validating the model with past horizontal data, the developed network was applied to predict the volume flow rate and research octane number (RON) of the future horizontal data versus days on stream. Results show that the developed ANN was capable of predicting the volume flow rate and RON of the gasoline for the future horizontal data sets with AAD% (average absolute deviation) of 0.238% and 0.813%, respectively. Moreover, the AAD% of the predicted octane barrel levels against the actual values was 1.447%, which shows the excellent capability of the model to simulate the behavior of the target catalytic reforming plant."
