......The issue of social discrimination against minorities is still a sensitive issue that is still difficult to resolve. In line with this, France is one of the countries with a high level of racial discrimination (RFI, 2023) Kery James, a rapper, often raises issues of racism in his songs, such as in "Le Poète Noir" which implicitly criticizes racial discrimination against minorities. In this case, music can be a medium to convey criticism of social issues that occur in society, including the problem of racial discrimination. This research aims to show the resistance of social discrimination discourse through the selection of diction and the use of language styles as a medium of focalization of discriminated minorities in the lyrics of the song "Le Poète Noir" by Kery James. Through qualitative method with literature study technique, this research uses Schmitt & Viala's structural theory of poetry (1982), Leech's theory of componential analysing of meaning (1982), and Baron & Byrne's theory of discrimination activity (1997). It was found that the existence of social criticism of discrimination is shown through the dominant use of alliteration, assonance, and metaphor in the song to support the meaning of suffering and struggle as a form of criticism of acts of racial discrimination.

......The Western has proven itself to be a massively influential film genre within the history of Hollywood, leaving its mark on the industry for decades since its first arrival. However, the genre has found itself to be in such a declining state over the years that it no longer holds a position in the industry. Nowadays, new forms of this genre have introduced themselves as a reflective vessel to look back upon the golden years and to comment on its original roots. This research examines the way these new storytelling approaches serve as the foundation for contemporary films to make remarks on the Western, primarily Classic and Revisionist Western, from several perspectives found within the cinematic frame. Through this analysis, it is argued that it is possible to obtain interpretations on how different filmmakers voice their opinion on the state of the genre in contemporary times by analyzing their utilization of the Post-Heyday Western concept in No Country for Old Men (2007) and Logan (2017), as well as how it correlates to certain thematic discussions revolving around aging.

This essay constitutes the first step in solving an enigma of Indonesian letters, one that is little noticed but unfathomable: the absence of crime fiction from the canon of the national literature. This is surprising for two reasons, the widespread popularity of crime in popular culture, both literature and film, and the g high esteem that the genre is held in other East Asian national traditions (Japan; Thailand; South Korea). This paper argues that contemporary Indonesian writers would be well advised to familiarize themselves with the various strands of crime fiction, in particular the American variant known as Noir, and adopt these traditions to local conditions. When Noir is examined closely, the attentive student will realize that the political and aesthetic concerns of American Noir writers are essentially those of Indonesian authors the social depredations of neo-colonialism and the traumatic effects of international Cold War politics.
