"Proses Pengakuan dan Perlindungan Masyarakat Hukum Adat (PPMHA) sangat penting untuk dilakukan untuk memastikan keberadaan dan kepastian akan terpenuhinya hak asasi masyarakat adat. Hutan adat merupakan salah satu hak masyarakat adat yang harus dipenuhi, sebab hutan adat merupakan bentuk perwujudan dari hutan hak. Penulisan makalah ilmiah ini menjelaskan dinamika yang terjadi dalam proses PPMHA, khususnya pengusulan Hutan Adat Himba Atang Ambun Liang Bungai, Gunung Mas, Kalimantan Tengah. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan bottom-up, Badan Registrasi Wilayah Adat (BRWA) berupaya untuk mengadvokasi kebutuhan Masyarakat Adat Dayak Ot Danum Himba Atang Ambun Liang Bungai dalam upaya pengusulan hutan adat. Melalui pendekatan bottom-up, diharapkan BRWA mampu melibatkan seluruh anggota masyarakat adat dalam proses pengambilan keputusan terkait hutan adat berdasarkan konteks dan pengetahuan lokal. Dengan menggunakan konteks dan pengetahuan lokal dalam proses pengambilan keputusan terkait hutan adat, diharapkan komunitas masyarakat adat terkait dapat memastikan keberlanjutan dan kelestarian dari (calon) hutan adatnya. Makalah ilmiah ini merupakan hasil refleksi dari kegiatan magang saya ketika menjadi fasilitator BRWA di Kabupaten Gunung Mas, Kalimantan Tengah, saat berupaya untuk mengadvokasi masyarakat adat akan perwujudan haknya, yaitu hutan adat.

The Process of Recognition and Protection of Indigenous Legal Communities (PPMHA) is crucial to ensure the existence and certainty of the fulfillment of indigenous people's basic rights. Customary forests are one of the rights of indigenous people that must be fulfilled, as customary forests are a manifestation of forest rights. This scientific paper explains the dynamics that occur in the PPMHA process, especially the customary forest registration of Himba Atang Ambun Liang Bungai, Gunung Mas, Central Kalimantan. Using a bottom-up approach, Badan Registrasi Wilayah Adat (BRWA) strives to advocate for the needs of the Dayak Ot Danum Himba Atang Ambun Liang Bungai indigenous community in their effort to apply for customary forests. Through a bottom-up approach, BRWA aims to involve all members of the indigenous community in the decision-making process related to customary forests based on local context and knowledge. By using local context and knowledge in the decision-making process related to customary forests, it is hoped that the related indigenous community can ensure the continuity and preservation of their (potential) customary forests. This scientific paper is the result of my internship reflection when I became a facilitator for BRWA at Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan, while striving to advocate for indigenous people's rights, namely their customary forests."
