This dissertation explores the relationship between philosophy and feminism. The researcher hypothesizes that masculine thoughts dominate Western philosophy. The texts on women from fourteen prominent Western philosophers ranging from Greek to contemporary were analyzed The findings are that most philosophers marginalized women and that mainstream Western philosophy provides little space for feminine thinking. The researcher uses deconstruction to show how masculine thoughts operate in a Western philosophical context and with the same tools, the researcher brings out the voices of women philosophers and a new interpretation of their philosophical works. This research also proposes new concepts in the discourse of philosophy, arguing philosophy as gendered and embodied, therefore, creating space for a feminist philosophy which includes standpoint epistemology, sexual difference in metaphysics/ ontology, and care in ethics. In the whole, this dissertation would like to put forward issues of the private sphere (domestic issues) as issues in philosophy. "the private is philosophy". It is the researcher's hope that these concepts will contribute to the progress of philosophical thought and a future where gender justice plays an important role in society. Feminist thought is a liberation in social theory and feminism in philosophy liberates philosophy itself."

"This latest volume in the series of titles on the history of universities contains a mix of learned chapters and book reviews which makes this publication a useful tool for the historian of higher education. This special issue particularly focuses on seventeenth-century Scottish philosophers and their philosophy. The volume is a lively combination of original research and reference material."
