Particulate matter (PM) can be overcome by utilizing plants. However, the PM deposits on plants leaf organ could also give impacts on physiological aspects of some plants. The aims of this study were to compare the PM ≤125 μm (PM≤125) deposits isolated from leaf organ of plants growing at TPST Bantargebang and the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Campus and investigate their impacts on plant physiological aspects. The selected plants species were Cerbera odollam, Polyalthia longifolia, Swietenia macrophylla, and Terminalia mantaly Physiological aspects observed, including chlorophyll content, carotenoids content, relative water content (RWC), and pH of leaf extract. The PM≤125 deposits on plants leaf at TPST Bantargebang were significantly higher (p = 0.000) than those on plants leaf at UI Campus. The highest PM≤125 deposit on plants leaf at TPST Bantargebang was observed in P. longifolia, followed by S. macrophylla, C. odollam, and T. mantaly. The PM≤125 deposits significantly affected RWC (r = -0.522, p < 0.01) and it affected the content of chlorophyll (r = -0.28) and carotenoids (r = -0.017) but not statistically significant (p > 0.05). The PM≤125 deposits did not affect the pH of leaf extract (p > 0.05). The least affected plants species in this study were C. odollam and T. mantaly. It was probably due to the low mass of PM≤125 deposits on their leafs. The P. longifolia has the highest mass of PM≤125 and it was only affected in two physiological aspects (chlorophyll and carotenoids content). Therefore, the recommended plant to be planted in polluted sites to reduce PM concentrations in the air is P. longifolia."
