"Nowadays, the importance thing is antimicrobial phytotherapy, because of a lot of strains of pathogenic microorganisms that have become resistant to the action of antibacterial substances in concentrations with in a therapeutic range. To overcome the problem the antimicrobial of phototherapy can be used as a natural medicine. One of them that has been investigated is the fermented Pangium edule Reinw. seed kernels (kluwak). The objective of this research was to investigation the activity of oil, which was extracted from the seed kernels by methanol against three bacteria thai had been known cause skin infections; Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa; and the activity of ethanol extract fermented seed kernels against three bacteria cause respiratory infections; Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Streptococcus p-hemolyticus Group A, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. Oil and ethanol extract of fermented seed kernels showed antibacterial action against both of the above bacteria."

"This book focuses on efficacy, toxicity, drug interactions, and abnormal clinical laboratory tests resulting from the use of herbal remedies. Although a few herbal remedies are safe and have efficacy (for example saw palmetto), many herbal remedies are toxic. This book guides in the interpretation of abnormal test results in otherwise healthy subjects due to use of herbal remedies. Chapters focus on interactions between herbals and pharmaceuticals, sources of contamination in herbal supplements, and analytical techniques used in the investigation of herbal remedies.
This book is divided into five parts. The first part provides a general introduction to CAMs as well as an introduction to herbals considered safe versus those with a darker reputation. The second part provides more detailed information in an organ or disease based focus and delves into some of the traditional practices of which most allopathic professionals have limited knowledge. Part III is dedicated to the key interactions between herbal supplements and various pharmaceutical drugs. Part IV addresses these important points. Part V discusses various analytical techniques used in the investigation of herbal remedies.

"This work is the first monograph devoted solely to Bombax ceiba, popularly known as the Red Silk Cotton Tree. Consisting of seven chapters, it covers all relevant aspects of this plant, from its historical and spiritual importance, to its botanical characterization, pharmacognostical details and ethnobiological uses, to its scientific validation in various animal and human studies. Each part of the tree is of medicinal value and possesses many novel chemical constituents such as shamimicin, bombasin, bombamalone, bombamaloside etc. along with other bioactive secondary metabolites. The book presents the chemical structures of the most important constituents and highlights various pharmacological activities, predominantly antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, hypoglycemic, hypotensive, hepatoprotective and fibrinolytic, which may prove to be a source for the development of a novel phyto-pharmaceutical agent to treat diabetes, heart disease and cancer. In addition, separate chapters deal with the commercial and ecological significance of B. ceiba, as well as a case study on its conservation. Numerous color illustrations are included to identify the plant and to justify its nickname, the “Little Bird’s Cafeteria”."
