Berdasarkan aturan IMO tentang Konvensi Polusi Laut, yaitu pada MARPOL 73/78 - Annex I, seluruh kapal tanker diharuskan memiliki konstruksi double hull untuk pencegahan polusi laut. Pengkajian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui pilihan yang paling tepat dalam hal waktu dan biaya jika membandingkan antara konversi dari single hull menjadi double hull, pembelian kapal bekas dengan tipe double hull atau pengadaan kapal baru dengan tipe double hull. Berdasarkan perhitungan waktu dan biaya serta data yang diperoleh tercapailah kesimpulan yang paling efisien ditinjau dari penghematan waktu dan biaya adalah dengan konversi single hull menjadi double hull. ......Under the rules of the IMO Convention on Marine Pollution, namely the MARPOL 73/78 - Annex I, the entire tanker required to have a double hull construction for the prevention of marine pollution. This assessment has the aim to determine the most appropriate choice in terms of time and cost when comparing the conversion of single hull into double hull, the purchase of second-hand vessels with the type of double hull or procurement of new ships with double hull type. Based on the calculation of time and costs, and also the data obtained it has reached the conclusion that the most efficient in terms of time and cost savings is the conversion of single hull into double hull.
