"Red Cliff atau Chì Bì (赤壁) merupakan sebuah film fiksi sejarah Cina yang menceritakan tentang peperangan antara pasukan kerajaan Utara dan pasukan gabungan dua kerajaan dari Selatan. Pada awalnya, pasukan kerajaan Utara unggul dalam perang karena jumlah tentara yang jauh lebih besar. Namun akhirnya pasukan gabungan kerajaan Selatan mampu mengalahkan pasukan kerajaan Utara. Salah satu tokoh yang berperan besar dalam kemenangan pasukan kerajaan selatan adalah Guan Yu, seorang jenderal yang sangat terampil dan berani dalam berperang. Keterampilan dan keberaniannya ini didukung oleh nilai-nilai moral yang dimilikinya, salah satunya yaitu nilai xin atau kepercayaan. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana nilai kepercayaan (xin) digambarkan melalui penokohan Guan Yu dalam film Red Cliff I dengan mendalami nilai xin berdasarkan Konfusianisme dan meneliti wujud nilai xin dalam tokoh Guan Yu berdasarkan teori penokohan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai xin dalam tokoh Guan Yu terwujud melalui sikap dan tindakannya, serta pendapat tokoh lain terhadapnya. Selain itu walaupun Guan Yu bukan tokoh utama, ia tetap berperan penting dalam menyampaikan edukasi tentang nilai budaya Cina khususnya nilai xin kepada para penonton.

Red Cliff or Chì Bì (赤壁) is a Chinese historical fiction film that tells the story of the war between the troops of the Northern kingdom and the combined forces of the two kingdoms from the South. At first, the Northern kingdom's troops had the upper hand in the war due to their much larger number of soldiers. However, in the end the combined forces of the Southern kingdom were able to defeat the troops of the Northern kingdom. One of the figures who played a big role in the victory of the southern kingdom's troops was Guan Yu, a general who was very skilled and brave in fighting. His skills and courage are supported by his moral values, one of which is the value of xin or trust. This research examines how the value of trust (xin) is depicted through the characterization of Guan Yu in the film Red Cliff I by exploring the value of xin based on Confucianism and examining the form of the value of xin in the character Guan Yu based on characterization theory. The results of the analysis show that the xin value in the character Guan Yu is manifested through his attitudes and actions, as well as the opinions of other characters towards him. Apart from that, even though Guan Yu is not the main character, he still plays an important role in conveying education about Chinese cultural values, especially the value of xin to the audience."
