"Tesis ini membahas pepatah-petitih berbahasa Minangkabau _ tentang kepemimpinan, khususnya sifat-sifat kepemimpinan ideal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menemukan pepatah-petitih yang gayut dengan konsep kepemimpinan dan menganalisis maknanya sehingga konsep kepemimpinan ideal Minangkabau dapat dirumuskan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Teori yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data adalah teori metafora. Analisis juga dilengkapi dengan validasi data dengan melihat penggunaan kata dalam konteks budaya Minangkabau. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pepatah-petitih mengandung butir-butir kearifan tentang sifat kepemimpinan ideal. Kearifan budaya terlihat dari kecerdasan dalam memilih ciri-ciri positif ranah sumber yang dijadikan sebagai lambang ranah target.

This thesis discusses about proverbs of leadership in Minangkabau language, especially the ideal leadership characteristics. The purpose of this research are to find some proverbs that are related to the concept of leadership and analyze their meanings so that the concept of ideal leadership in Minangakabau can be summarized. This research is a qualitative research. The theory used to analyze the data is the theory of metaphor. The analysis is also equipped with the validation of the data by looking at the use of words in the context of Minangkabau culture. The analysis shows that the proverbs contain details about wisdom of ideal leadership qualities. Cultural wisdom is demonstrated by the intelligence in choosing the positive features of the sources domain that serve as the symbol of the target domain. "

"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini membahas pemakaian ungkapan maaf sumimasen bahasa Jepang dalam beberapa situasi tutur. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pemakaian ungkapan maaf sumimasen oleh orang Jepang yang berdomisili di Tokyo selain sebagai ungkapan maaf, yaitu sebagai ungkapan terima kasih, ungkapan pengantar saat meminta tolong, dan ungkapan saat memanggil atau menarik perhatian. Hasil penelitian menyarankan pentingnya pemahaman akan pemakaian sumimasen bagi orang asing pemelajar bahasa Jepang, khususnya bagi mahasiswa Program Studi Jepang Universitas Indonesia karena sumimasen memiliki beberapa makna berbeda dan tidak hanya dipakai sebagai ungkapan maaf, untuk menghindari terjadinya kesalahan komunikasi.

AbstractThe Focus of this study is the usage of apology expression of Japanese sumimasen in several speech situations. The research result shows the usage of sumimasen by the Japanese living in Tokyo in the situation other than as apology expression, such as gratitude expression, request, and to call or get other_s attention. This research is quantitative qualitative descriptive. The data were collected by means of questionnaire and interview. The researcher suggests that the Japanese-learning foreigner, as well as the students of Japanese Study Program of University of Indonesia should understand the usage of sumimasen very well to avoid miscommunication."

"The absence of equivalents is an issue that has always been faced by translators in translating the source text. When translating proverbs, which are loaded with moral and cultural messages, translators are required to be able to transfer the messages appropriately. The different types of proverbs between French and Indonesian are a major cause of translators' difficulty in finding the equivalents in the form of proverbs. This issue was raised from the author's own experience in translating French fable by Jean de La Fontaine into Indonesian. By using the theory of Paremi and proverbs types of Bhuvaneswar (2000), French and Indonesian proverbs are analyzed in order to find the kinds of proverbs of the source language and the target language. It was found that the absence of equivalents in the form of Indonesian proverbs caused by the opposite of types of French proverbs and Indonesian proverbs. The majority of French proverbs are literal, whereas Indonesian proverbs are mostly metaphors. Data were taken from the fables of Jean de La Fontaine and its translation into Indonesian."
