Abstrak :
The Justification of Religious Violence explores how justifications for religious violence are developed and how or if they differ from secular justifications of violence. Can liberal societies tolerate potentially violent religious groups? Can those who accept religious justifications for violence be dissuaded from acting violently? The book includes six case studies examining justifications offered for recent instances of violence. The first book specifically devoted to examining the logical structure of justifications of religious violence Seeks to understand how justifications for religious violence are developed and how or if they differ from ordinary secular justifications of violence Examines 3 widely employed premises used in religious justifications of violence -- appeals to a state of 'cosmic war', appeals to the importance of the afterlife, and appeals to 'sacred values'. Considers to what extent liberal democratic societies should tolerate who hold that their religion justifies violent acts. Skripsi ini membahas persoalan kekerasan berbasis agama dalam pemahaman filosofis dengan menggunakan analisa Daniel Dennett melalui karyanya yang berjudul 'Breaking The Spell: Religion As A Natural Phenomenon'. Tujuan penelitian skripsi ini adalah untuk memahami fenomena agama melalui kerangka pemikiran Dennett serta memperlihatkan bagaimana pentingnya detoksifikasi dan investigasi ilmiah terhadap agama dan prakteknya demi terwujudnya pencerahan pemikiran dan peradaban manusia yang lebih baik. Metode yang digunakan adalah kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa watak ambiguitas yang melekat pada agama menuntut manusia untuk segera melakukan pemahaman dan penyikapan secara objektif dan komprehensif terhadap agama.

This script is discuss an issue about religious violence in philosophical comprehension with analysis from Daniel Dennett by his work 'Breaking The Spell: Religion As A Natural Phenomenon'. The purpose of this research is to understand phenomenon of religion by framework of Dennett's thought and to show how is important a scientific investigation toward concerning religion and its practices for the sake of an enlightenment thinking and the better of human civilization. This research is use a literature method. The result is that the ambivalence of the sacred in religion is prosecute the human being to immediately realize, understand comprehensively, and have an objective attitudes toward religion.

This study aims to describe narrative texts held by Islamic boarding schools to fight terrorism or violence narratives and to describe activities carried out to support existing narrative texts. This study uses the Discourse Analysis method and divides the two stages of analysis. At the text analysis stage, the Islamic boarding schools narratives were analyzed using the Presidential Identity Prisma, while in the context analysis phase, the results of interviews and research observations were analyzed with Communication Performance to determine organizational cultureand routine activities in Islamic Boarding Schools. The main theory used in this study is Fishers Narrative Theory, which describes human decisions in believing in a narrative or story and acting on the belief in the story. According to Fisher, humans believe a narrative is influenced by the rationality of narratives, where the narrative has consistency and truth. The results of this study indicate that narrative texts have dominant Islamic boarding schools having coherence in the aspect of objectives that focus on the production of a message of peace so that Indonesia remains a country with a tolerant society and can manage existing differences. The figure of the Prophet Muhammad in the narrative is described as a person who prioritizes deliberation in solving problems. The Nahdlatul Ulama organization is also an organization that has the task of maintaining the unity of the people and nation of Indonesia in the midst of differences. Whereas, the efforts made to support narration are to routinely teach Islamic values as a religion of love in each forum, Reforming the education system, checking curriculumsourced from the government or from outside, Caregivers of Islamic boarding schools routinely form narratives to prevent terrorism, which are printed into books, sent to the media and so on so that the audience can easily access.
