Abstrak :
Gerakan sosial memanfaatkan media digital untuk bersuara dan menggalang dukungan publik. Salah satu gerakan sosial di Indonesia yang aktif menggunakan media sosialnya adalah Wadas Melawan. Wadas Melawan adalah gerakan akar rumput yang lahir karena adanya konflik lahan antara masyarakat Desa Wadas dengan pemerintah. Mengacu pada konsep digital repertoire of contention, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana bentuk-bentuk repertoar digital yang dilancarkan masyarakat dan aktivis Wadas Melawan. Repertoar diartikan sebagai serangkaian taktik gerakan sosial yang digunakan untuk bertindak secara kolektif guna mencapai tujuannya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode netnografi untuk mengeksplorasi fenomena budaya dalam konteks daring. Penelitian ini mengungkap repertoar digital Wadas Melawan tidak terlepas dari aksi tradisional serta komunikasi tatap muka peserta aksi. Media sosial memfasilitasi aksi-aksi untuk memobilisasi pesan dan massa. Eskalasi atensi publik terhadap Wadas Melawan terjadi sebanyak tiga kali, salah satunya ketika kerusuhan masyarakat dengan aparat kepolisian terjadi di Desa Wadas. Selama lima tahun berjalan, aktivisme digital Wadas Melawan tidak sepenuhnya mulus karena adanya hambatan-hambatan yang memengaruhi aktivitas di dunia maya. ......Social movements use digital media to raise their voice and gather public support. One of the social movements in Indonesia that actively uses social media is Wadas Melawan. Wadas Melawan is a grassroots movement that was born due to a land conflict between the people of Wadas Village and the government. Referring to the concept of digital repertoire of contention, this research aims to see the forms of digital repertoire launched by the community and activists of Wadas Melawan. Repertoire is defined as a set of tactics a social movement uses to act collectively to achieve its goals. This research is a qualitative research using netnography methods to explore cultural phenomena in an online context. This research reveals that Wadas Melawan digital repertoire is inseparable from traditional actions and face-to-face communication between participants. Social media facilitates actions to mobilize messages and mass. Escalation of public attention towards Wadas Melawan occurred three times, one of which was when community riots with the police occurred in Wadas Village. During the five years that have been running, Wadas Melawan digital activism has not been completely smooth due to obstacles that have affected activities in cyberspace.

Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana aksi repertoar digital berperan dalam membentuk sebuah aksi gerakan sosial beserta strateginya dalam kasus Candlelight Movements tahun 2008 di Korea Selatan. Menurut Charles Tilly sebuah gerakan sosial membutuhkan aksi repertoar yang menekankan kepada inovasi-inovasi strategi. Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, aksi repertoar turut mengembangkan strateginya kepada pemanfaatan media-media internet. Strategi yang tergolong inovatif tersebut tepat dilakukan di Korea Selatan sebagaimana negara tersebut menduduki peringkat tertinggi dunia dalam angka penggunaan internet diawal tahun 2000-an. Kasus Candlelight Movements tahun 2008 ini dianalisa melalui teori aksi repertoar digital (digitalized action repertoires). Teori aksi repertoar digital yang digagas oleh Jeroen Van Laer dan Peter Van Aelst memercayai bahwa kehadiran media internet memudahkan pelaksanaan aksi dalam segi pembagian informasi dan mobilisasi. Untuk melakukan penelitian ini, digunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis pendekatan studi kasus. Berdasarkan konsep aksi repertoar digital, Candlelight Movements tahun 2008 digolongkan sebagai gerakan sosial yang didukung penuh oleh media internet (internet-supported). Rangkaian strategi dalam tahap sebelum melaksanakan aksi tersebut menunjukkan tingkat partisipasi masyarakat yang tinggi. Aksi repertoar digital berimplikasi kepada partisipan dari Candlelight Movements tahun 2008 yang beragam dan terbesar sepanjang sejarah Korea Selatan. Serta, menggambarkan komitmen masyarakat sipil yang cukup tinggi atas keikutsertaan mereka dalam proses politik di Korea Selatan.

This paper aims to assess how digitalized action repertoires has helped in shaping social movement and its strategies in the case of South Koreas Candlelight Movements in 2008. Charles Tilly suggests a notion of repertoires of action, which means social movement needs of innovative sets of strategies. In this digital age, the repertoires of action expanded it strategies into the role of internet media. Such innovative strategies was perfectly in line with South Koreas internet traffic ranking as the highest in the world in the early 2000s. The 2008s Candlelight Movements would be analysed through digitalized action repertoires theory proposed by Jeroen Van Laer dan Peter Van Aelst. Both theorists believe that the present of internet media would help the society to build relations, mobilizations, and collecting informations. In the end, the relations that were built on the internet would easily shape the movement. This research was conducted by using a qualitative method and a case study approach. According to the theory, the 2008s Candlelight Movement can be classified as social movement which was entirely internet supported. The digitalized action repertoires which happened before the movement showed the high threshold of peoples participation in political process in South Korea. It also impacted the Candlelight Movements to became the biggest and longest movement in the history of South Koreas democracy.
